How do I search for small terms? Like, "C6" or "GM"? Is there a special way I need to enter short terms into the search function to override it taking the words out?

I have the same problem... I can't search for "241 red ram hemi" the only word that registers in the search is hemi, and I have to sift through a lot of stuff.

I feel your pain. Trying to search on nearly any transmission name or engine cubic inch size will kick the word(s) out. I know the info is there, just can't get to it.

Try using bigger letters, man... :D

Seriously though - if you use google, click on the advanced search link, then you can try checking the options such as "USE EXACT PHRASE", and so on.

OR put the words you enter in the search box in quotation marks (it does the same thing)

There are a lot of options that can help a lot.

I just did that - and it spat out a whole mess of links, including this one:

we're not talking about google! why would I search google when all the answers are here in the HAMB?!? We are talking about the HAMB search... short words don't compute

I've tried everything I could think of on this. You can't search for model a. You can't search for 26 t roadster. I've tried parenthesis(sp?), but I can't get it to work either. Help!

Trey, unfortunately, you are right. I got a PM from the boss man himself. He said this version of the board doesn't allow searching for small words like that and it will have to wait until the next version of the board when he can code up his own search function. Til then we have to deal with it.

So, until then no one is allowed to use less than 4 characters in any word in any post. ha ha.

gonna have to start using "radical" instead of just plain "rad"

You can use google to search the hamb.

Enter this search string into google:

"241 red ram hemi" site:www.jalopyjournal.com (http://www.jalopyjournal.com)

or

"C6" site:www.jalopyjournal.com

The portion inside the "quotes" searches for the EXACT phrase (including otherwise omitted words).

The site:www.jalopyjournal.com (http://www.jalopyjournal.com/) portion only searches within the jalopyjournal.com domain.

Hope this helps!
Ed

Awesome idea. Is there anything Google can't do? ha ha.
