Ok, so I promise Mrs Rocky I'll go with her to one of her brother's place in central Nebraska for Christmas..she loves to get me away from hot rod stuff for family stuff like this gathering.... After dinner, her brother asks me if I want to go look at "some old chevy pickup."... Turns out his church bought an old farmstead and the 64-66 chevy 1/2 ton longbox was left on the property....it's a deluxe cab with an original smallblock and truck 4 speed in factory red and white. Has the standard rusty front fenders but no dents or cracked glass. He said the church wants to have everything removed from the propitty to erect a new building and he thought he could talk the church board into selling the truck for $100. I said "YEAH!"...
We drove back to his house and got on the horn to the ex- owner of the truck. He said he'd go to the courthouse with my bro-in-law today to get the lost title ironed out and give him the keys. When asked what was wrong with the old pickup, the ex-owner said it was driven into the farmyard and shut off....just needs some TLC and the old owner wasn't mechanically inclined.....Photos to come later..
Merry Christmas to me!........anybody have a pair of non-rusty 60-66 chevy pickup front fenders?

that's cool bein able to get that for only a hundred bux.my dad's got an old '65 chevy stepside ( i think it's a shortbed) with the straight six and he's GIVIN it to me to get it out of the yard..it's been parked in his backyard since ' 93 and i'd LOVE to get it goin for a driver.there's the usual rust spots here and there, and one eat up rocker and door, plus one leaky brake line, but oh well,it's there.it's got a fairly decent recently re-covered bench seat and an equalizer on the stereo.someone even welded in a crappy steel bed where the wood one was.oh well.i'll be sure to let you guys know how reserecting this one goes,as soon as the snow clears up a bit here and i can pull myself away from the ' 54 for awhile.

Sounds like the Lord giveth to you this year! You HAVE to make that into some kind of push truck with a "holy roller" sounding name.

I think it'd be cool to shorten the frame up and use one of those old Ma Bell telephone company truck utility boxes on it..use it [if I can find one]for a daily driver shop truck...maybe even fake a ma bell logo or a speedshop logo on the doors...It's a 283-4 speed, converted from an original 3 speed...still has the old 3 speed column in it...

We once traded a 65 Chevy truck for a VCR. The fenders were rotted out a foot up, the cab was rotted out almost all the way around the floor (it was starting to sit crooked), and the rear fenders litteraly had 3 inches thick of bondo on them, all over. It was a 1 ton, LWB painter's truck with a 6cyl and granny 4speed.

The guy was traded it to traded it for some speakers to some other guy, and he actually got it drivable. I saw it around for a while, and then it disappeared. It was good to see it being used... we would have never got around to fixing all the metal.

Rocky, sounds like a cool find. It still amazes me that you have all these projects and you only have a 1 car garage, where there's a will there's a way. I like the utility body idea, you can call it the "Rockys Goodtime(tm) roadservice" truck. Good luck with it man.

My sons 1964 has about $1000 of parts in it to get it to look like this. It has a 283 and a 4 speed with a granny gear. To answer your question about rust free front fenders ,there has not been a rust free front fender for one of these since about 1968. Have fun with it. You can't go wrong with a buy in price like that. Yea thats me driving.

Hey Chuck...that 64 is almost a clone of the last one I did........a 61 shorty widebox like yours. It came with a 63-66 hood and I primered the truck in gray primer...bolted up a set of deep chromies and dropped it as much as I could with torsion bars... Mine had a sweet running 235 and I split the stock manifold at work. I repaired all the rust and my kid's buddy offered me silly money for it..g'bye lil' truck.
BTW, my brother in law called tonight to say my $100 offer has been accepted. Goin down to his place Sunday to see if I can bleed the brakes and toss a fresh battery in it...maybe even drive it 150 miles home!

Fastcat.......thanks, I appreciate it and Micky...that spring mount wasn't mine. I think you're refering to one I may have posted but I believe "Killer" was the fabricator.
