First off... you must like getting a bunch of junk mail in your inbox if you're using your email address as a user name. If you wonder why you're getting so much junk emails, this might be part of it. (Not that HAMBers would sign you up for stuff, but the spammers use special software that scans web pages for people's addresses.)

As for your question on the Chevy... that's really something more appropriate for the main board, but here goes: if you want to make a convertible out of a 50 Chevy 4-door, be prepared to do way more than cutting the top off the car! If you get the opportunity to look at a frame from a "real" convertible and compare it to yours, you'll see a big difference. For one thing the convertibles had a big "X" right in the middle, connecting the two main rails. (The hardtops [BelAirs] had the same frame as the convertibles.) The roof on the 4dr is part of the structure of the body. Without it, the sides of the body will flop around like crazy, and you'll be lucky if you can even keep the doors latched! You can overcome this by beefing up the body structire and adding some stiffeners to the frame, but you'd better have a decent understanding of engineering these kinds of things to avoid screwing up whatever you already have invested in your car. If you'll be paying someone to do any of this, it will be way cheaper to just start with a clapped-out factory convertible and reapair all the floorboard rust and such.

Oh, and welcme to the HAMB!
