Well after selling all my cars....I ran across this ol-car in the Auto Trader. Asking Price $2500...take home price...$1600. Runs, Drives, Stops....

This car is running the flat 6 and runs like crap. So if I can't get it runnin, then I'm swapping out the old motor for somethin a bit newer.

In the mean time I need some ideas for paint. I already photoshopped the drop.

For what it's worth, i say just lay some suede on her for now, throw on some salt flats rims and save up for a NEW MOTOR!

Nothin' beats flat black http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I'm not sure I speak for So-cheap or not, but non-reflective black paint + 120 degrees= bad hair day. But then again, every day is a bad hair day for me!

Great looking ride, congrats.

Nice score. I really like it w/ the severe lowering & maybe some real simple red scallops to match the wheels.

That motor is actually pretty cool and workable. Check out these two sites:

http://www.edgycams.com/

You rebuild and balance her, get the manifold split, run a good cam, and you're set. Note that the flat 6 was NOT air starved, so an intake and carb are purely for looks. The aftermarket head is nice eye candy too.

Those little 6's will run an 8 when set up properly. The key is balancing. They weren't designed to twist high RPM's originally.

Question for MaiKiKi:
How do you do your flames?
Do you draw them straight in Photoshop or import them from Illustrator or something?

Not to hi-jak you post SoCheap...the car looks great, especially for that price. A good solid start to a nuther custom.

Cleatus!

I just have a large "folio" of pictures....i usually scan thru to find what i want...can do this pretty quick as i tend to remeber where everything is.

Anyhoo....usually keep any pics of side on flames...along with hand drawn and scanned ones....So when i need flames i can just manually cut them out neatly or overlay hand drawn ones....fiddling required but, not too bad a way of doing it.

Cheers

Damn Mai-Kai you're good, so much better than hatch, he sucks.
What a totally cool car you found Clark. I dig it a lot, the side trim is the snazziest.
I reckon if you do chop it please leave the B posts straight. I love straight posts, slanted look good on some cars but yours oughtta be straight.
Me thinks me likes your Mopar more than Chevys or Fords, those are just so common.

Awesome work guys!!! I really like it.
I will probably stay somewhat subtle for now.
The paint is fair so I will wax it up for a little shine and get some new WWW's on it before Jan 3rd Car show here in PHX.

Steve, Its always good to hold something back. Now what are you going to do seeing as how you went to the ultimate right out of the chute? After doing that Harley I'd thing you would know when to stop. hehehehehe!!!

Though all of these were very creative, I think I like Bumpsticks the best so far. I tend to like the slanted post.

Hey! I recognize those flames Mai Ki. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif Glad you liked them enough to save the pic.

I kinda like the nose-down rake that K&R did.

Hell Bass your flames are pretty much my all time favourites, up there with the ones on Mike Youngs 59/60 Chevy.

One day i'd love to have some bass flames on my baby.
*damn pond!*

Thanks...that's a major compliment. I think Rod Powell did the flames on the Exotica. I'm not sure my name belongs in the same paragraph as that guy; but I'm really honored that someone with obviously good taste in design such as yourself digs my style.

Hey, I'd like to visit Oz some day...you never know. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
