I know... I know... Ebay gayness, but I thought this was pretty neat.

Anyone know about Ardun V860 motors??? I know that the Full size Arduns are rare, but this thing is unique.

Anyone have some pictures of one of these on a car from back in the day?

(not mine!)

Crusty old engines are cool, especially super-rare ones, but you know what? I'd rather spend $75k on a nice new Ferrari.

I'd buy that in a second, if I only had the money.

I used to work with a guy that lived in Solana Beach CA. The guy wasn't a rodder and as far as I know wasn't into any kind of car deal. He told once told me that he had a set of V8 60 Ardun heads that he had gotten in some obscure place for some obscure reason and that they were still in the box because he never used them. He told me at that time he had no intention of ever selling them because they were so rare??? I thought the guy was full of shit because I'd never heard of V860 Arduns? Now I think he could be my new best friend. Let's see, his name was Chuck something or other, Hmmm.

Pat Ganahl wrote an article on the V8-60 Ardun in the Feb 79 issue of Street Rodder Magazine and this article was rerun in May 93. At least 6 were built. Zora Arkus-Duntov told Tom Senter they were built for midget racing and could not be run on the street.

I'd sell my niece and nephews in order to pay for it. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif That sure would be neat sitting in the storage chest next to the full sized one I'm gonna inherit someday.

Tex Smith's "Complete Ford Flathead V8 Engine Manual" has some history on both sized Arduns in it. Mentions that there were "at least a dozen" of the V8-60 versions produced.

Yea man, the Ardun V8 60's are indeed rare birds, but $75,000 rare? I don't know about that.
Having said that if I was a millionaire I'd probably bid on it.

Call me crazy but I would rather have a nailhead, early hemi (but of course this is from a small block chevy kinda guy) or one of those new crate flatheads than this...hell, how much are those regular new Arduns, 12,000 or something...I would stick with Fenton or something and just dress a flathead, they sound and look good enuff on their own.

He's going for that "patina" look.....
My take on it is that for $75,000 he should loan you his old lady for the weekend too!
