Long time reader, first time poster http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif. This is a great forum with lots of info. I am not too good at this intro stuff, but here goes. Mike is my name, I live in Santa Ana in So. Cali and as you prolly know, I love vintage style rods. I have a '46 ford fordor with a flat 6 ford motor in it (Flatheads are my drug of choice, specially the inline ones). I am working on a t-roadster as we speak and in need of a body. . . Good enough?? Any fellow rodders in So. Cali area that need help on their rods, let me know I know my way around a shop.

That motor is a full-dress Zephyr v-12, for all the flathead freaks!

Welcome to the board!

You know, the first thing I thought when I saw that picture (besides "That sure is purple") is "Those headers look too weird for a flathead."

Then I saw your follow up post and really looked at the heads once more and cought on that it is a V12. Very sweet.

Wow - twin flat six. Lookin' good. As partial as I am to inline engines, I've always liked the look of a full dress flathead V8. I don't think I've ever seen a V12 all dressed up like that.

Welcome, Kinky6.

I know of a guy with quite a bit of flat 6 ford speed equipment, but VERY pricey. He has a dual intake for $500, and tri-intake for like $600, aluminum oil pan for like $500, and a finned aluminum head for about $800 I think, he also has some dual headers too(HE had this stuff last time I emailed him, not sure if he still has it). I might be puttin a flat 6 in my roadster too, I have an 8BA that I am rebuilding, and an extra flat 6 that is running, so I am not sure which one to put in the roadster. I am gonna be making my own headers and dual intake for the flat 6 soon, so I will keep you guys posted. If you need any help on the motor, let me know, I completely rebuilt the one in my '46 and have done lots of work to it.
Thanks for the hospitality
Mike

Right on Right on, You do know how to show up in style. I promiss not to say anything about the Billit pulleys if you'll tell me it's going in something of yours with no hood or fenders. That's like showing up at the High School Sock Hop with a Collage girl on your arm. Welcom, Right on!

That thing looks SOOOOOO good. I want one. Don't know what I'd put it in, but I'd find something, without a hood no doubt.

perhaps it was a clever pun? you know, "more fresh MEAT", except that he's MEETing us for the first time so it's a crafty little... word... substitution... thingy... um...

no, you're right, he just can't spell. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

g'day, and welcome new guy... luckily for you the billet police didn't arrive first. if the first response had been "ugh, is that billet?" the whole thread could have gone horribly wrong...

but then, it's difficult NOT to make a V12 look cool, though that is without a doubt one of the coolest i've seen, if somewhat... well... purple! http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

So what DO we know about that motor? There can't be 2 V12's out there that color. It sure looks like one that I took a picture of in the shop of IBUILDM in Spokane a few years ago. I'll try to dig up my picture, but I'd bet it's the same one. And you're right, it's SWEET!

In Oaktown Ca in about 1972 I handed a guitar to a hillbilly gospel preacher and he gave me keys, title, and a 46 Ford PU, flathead six in it.
Filled it with my lathe, kennedy chests, and a Dobermann and drove it to minnesota.
Cheap guitar too.
At the time around the big lakes in the midwest there were heads and intakes for those motors, quite a few in boats.
My truck had a US Navy tage on it.
A good motor

I'd like to see some pics of an inline six or eight in a T roadster. Think it would look cool, being longer than the V8.

Welcome!

i know it's a cool looking motor, but why would you post a picture of something that's not your's or had a hand in creating? and not tell anyone until later? i thought it was your's and WAS very impressed with you and your abilities.... i thought that i was gonna learn stuff from a real master....but now i feel kinda deceived. maybe it's me because i jumped to that conclusion..even though you never said it was your stuff, i think others thought the same as me

please don't get me wrong,i'm not putting you down or trying to start trouble or more drama,i'm sure you're a ok guy......but, can we now see pictures of your stuff?

I thought I recoginzed that engine. It was in a Rodders Journal where "Rumbleseat" drove his beautiful '34 Roadster across the Great Northwest, then on down to California and finally back to Lakewood Colorado.
I say welcome anyways.
The pic was a beaut and I beleive he just wanted to share it.
As for flatty 6 stuff, I am in the hunt for it too.
DAMNED hard to find. I am considering splitting the factory exhaust manifold and building a dual carbed unit out of the stock intake and use two old Holley onesies. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

I will get some pictures of my stuff up as soon as I can. I always fuck up first impressions http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
I look forward to talkin and hopefully meeting some of you guys
