It's almost Friday and I wanted to get this on.

First up, the leather jacket that Fiddy Four sent home with me a couple weeks ago. He's a brave man. I faxed him an unfinished pic the other day but this is the first time he has seen the finished back. sorry for the low light, tried to minimize the glare off the leather. Put a lighter version in so you can see the color better. Hope you like it Traves! I'll deliver it at the Drags.

Second a small panel I did this week.

yea, i kinda figured that was the case... its that way with ANY artwork or a car for that matter... pics never do em justice at all. if the jacket comes out half again as good as the ceramic tiles i got from George, im gonna be REAL pleased

I love it when the Friday art show comes on Thrusday....who wants conformity?

Well I wasn't going to post these because I generally don't post my art here (I brag too much already) but I have been putting a portfolio together recently and had to take digi pics of some of the larger stuff I have (larger than three feet tall) and they are on my 'puter right now - so what the hell.

These are portraits - except for the last one, it's actually a B&W photo I took when I was in Junior High. I used a paintbrush and swept over the photo paper with developer to create an almost flame-like effect.

Might not impress the Hot-Rod crowd, but it is art and it's (almost) Friday.

CathyH,
Thanks...I appreciate being singled out, but one of the reasons why I don't post art all of the time is because I don't think I measure up to the artists like Brush, Tuck, Jeem and so on....at least in terms of auto related material.

That plus I don't want to come off like a cocky guy on this board, I have a hard enough time mantaining the respect of this audience as it is.

I can do almost anything, but these guys work at a pace that I can't hang with. And auto art is a form all unto it's own, I would need to work on the craft for years to rise to that level.

I love a good portrait though - Chuck Close is one of my all time favorites. I wish I could paint for a living but my wife and the bills would disagree with that kind of behavior.....

The first one is a portrait of my wife - based on a photo I snapped while she slept.

The second is a self port. from a pic my dad took of me as a kid.

The third is a woman in morning, noone in particular.

The last is the Jr High B&W photo.

...anyway thanks for the compliment.

Johnny, Johnny, Johnny......Its an optical illusion. Both arms are actually the same length, but because of how I drew his eyes, ONE arm APPEARS to be longer than the other. Its really a tricky thing to pull off. I worked on that technique for years. I'm suprised you were fooled. I thought you were a better artist than that. :D :D

Thanks Tingler,

I dig your stuff as well. let us know when the site is up and running, "oh master of all things monster". Love to check it out.

Just noticed, it's in BIG ASS letters on your post. Damned these 56 year old eyes. Must be all that welding without a helmet. Enjoyed it.

More weird stuff I did with 1-Shot. Contact paper makes a good mask when you're spray bombing numbers on a door. Helps if it's the sweet wood grain kind, just for ambiance.

Bitchin stuff youse guys.

broman- That's a cool technique you did with the developer on a brush. I knew a guy in college that used that method on 6x8ft portraits. He hung his enlarger horizontally and exposed the paper taped to the wall. Developer was in a squirt bottle and he used a squeegee to move it around. Had another squirt bottle full of stop bath to kill the developer when needed. He made some really amazing images.

gabo- I dig your style.

Here's a shot from a recent job. This one is definitely going into my portfolio.
