I am using the brake rebuild kit from Kanter and I was wondering what I need to do to get the little things that push out on the wheel cylinders. I do have to take those out dont I? Also is there anything that I need to know when I rebuild the master cylinder? Thanks.

Pul the rubber boots off the cylinders, spray'em with Tri flow or WD40 and drive the pistons out with a small brass drift. Hone them out, make sure the bleeders are'nt full of crud, clean the pistons on a wire wheel, lubricate the pistons & rubber cups with CLEAN BRAKE FLUID & reassemble. Make sure you hone the wheel & master cyl's and if there is bad pitting in the bores get new ones.

Josh, where are those pics? http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Check the bottom of the M/C reservoir. There is a small relief port (hole) in the bottom, make sure it is clear.
It's really small and can get plugged with rust.

Mine was plugged, my brakes came on and never went off.

Fatman makes a dual chamber M/C adapter BTW.

Go to the auto parts store & buy a wheel cylinder hone. they,re about $10. It hooks to your electric drill. use some wd 40 to lube it and hone it out then clean cyl. with brakeclean & reassemble as previously stated. Use same hone on master cyl. also.

Here's a set of hones that I bought years ago at a local auto parts store. They work great for just about any bore or length of cylinder. Sometimes a picture is worth a thousand words... http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smirk.gif
