Yeah, I know, its only Saturday..But I did manage to get some things done.

1) Found a place that sells Rolls and pleats, Garage, wrench, CK Deluxe, Baracuda, and just about anything else. Not far from home either..

2) Right down the street is a place that sells One Shot!

3) Found another local guy that sells Triumph parts (He had a triple tree/neck bolt for my springer front end.. AND an NOS '63 Pre-Unit Triumph back fender. Bought a few things from him..

Started putting some ideas I had for the bike into motion. It was a good day..

Got day plates to take car to "aircare" inspection (failed 3 times already)

Put plates on and backed car up to see leaking fuel line going into tank

go to parts store

Cut fuel line and realize I forgot to get the other parts i needed....

Long story short, I passed aircare.

i started stripping the 50 down last night and all day today..didnt find any suprises, which is cool.

http://members.roadfly.org/samiam/wkend1.JPG but made a mess of the entire garage..

this is what was left of 50 + years of paint..only one repaint since the original..and that was my reward afterwards!

Just came in from shooting a gun full of 3 part primer on my track roadster p/u body and the back side of some '35 wires for a pals modified. A good day...coffee with some pals in the morning, lunch with some pals, phone consultation on the modified, primer, relax on the web...a good day.

The '63 NOS back fender was the best find..Kinda looks like a '36 Ford spare tire cover with that nice round ridge going down the center, but the Ford's sides don't cover like I want them to. The '63 Triumph's rear fender fits perfectly over the wide white 140 tire. Really fills the space well. I actually brought the rolling frame with me to the guy's house so I could eyeball up everything. Sadly, most of his chopper stuff had been sold off. I almost gave up on the springer front end because I lost the castle nut that holds it on. This guy had another one. Yeah..I'm happy.

1) Painted my f-1 seat frame so I can drop it off to be recovered;

2) Sold my Willys Jeep - I've now got some $$ and an open spot - it's party time! I'm due to buy a rusty shit-ball

3) Tomorrow, I'll match patches for the enormous holes in my truck's firewall and continue welding in the floor.

Started working up a business plan for a diner. Just to see how much it would cost to get one going. Damn I'm on winter break and I'm crunching numbers again. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

heres a photo of the rear crossmember tokyo helped me with and the 33 gal fuel tank I picked up for the car.. we mounted the fuel tank on top of the crossmembers so that it wouldnt be seen from the rear of the car.. when I build the floor for the rear section of the car I will make it removeable so that the tank can be removed when necessary..
fwiw I took a lesson from lulabelle and used 4x4 square tubing for the rear crossmember.. and of course later I will install the hitch to this crossmember as well

last but not least..

this is the reason you should ALWAYS set the ride height up BEFORE any other work.. this is a photo of the repaired x member the previous owner TORCHED this area out because he was using the stock rear springs in the car and needed clearance for the driveshaft.. at any rate I spent alot of time fixing this area and reinforcing it.. I guess this is what I been doin the last 2 weekends

Not strictly the weekends work, but a pic of what I've been putting right the last couple of days. You can see the pigeon hole I have to work in. Still, some guys have to build outside in the UK!

The roof is actually going on already, more pics to follow soon.

Took advantage of the TROPICAL Michigan weather (sunny and into the 40s...a December heatwave!) and went out to work on the old 49 Chevy.

Unbolted and removed what was left of the old battery tray and tossed it. Then, cut out the rusty remains below it to make a nice, rectangular hole where the new universal heavy plastic tray will go after I make up some supports and cover the hole with some fresh sheetmetal.

Also pulled off some more underhood stuff I won't need...the old voltage regulator, it's wiring harness and other random bits and pieces as well.

Made some quick measurements under the hood and inside the car to figure out motor mounting and brake pedal configurations.

My Performance Bodies catalog lists a slick brake pedal/master cylinder assembly that mounts the two small Howe master cylinders backwards on a hung pedal. I thought that such a design would put the master cylinders in an unaccessable location, but with the stock radio removed, I should be able to reach through a folding access door I'm installing in the dash to fill the brake fluid.

Not 100% sure that I want to go with the race car brake pedal assembly yet, but it looks like it might work out pretty well. The tech guys at Performance Bodies know their shit and can tell me if this is a good idea or not!

Got the clutch pedal freed up a little bit. My brother-in-law showed me a cool adapter that allows use of the stock three speed behind a small Chevy (or 250 six, 153 four, etc!). Just another option to ponder!

This car amazes me so far...it's really rusty, yet none of them long dormant bolts seems to put up much of a fight...I've had newer cars where every dam bolt breaks...but this car is very helpfull...I think it WANTS to be driven again!!

Also bought some small electrical odds and ends to help me re-wire this thing!

all in all a good haul. A bunch of NOS GM stuff. A bunch of 40 Ford (?) stuff. NOS bumpers, a set of Nova fenders. A bunch of stuff. I'm gonna inventory it all tomorrow or Tue. Most of it will probably fo up for grabs on here first. I still have more to get. But made sure I got the majority of the good stuff this load. I love cleaning out old shops...

Cleaned out the garage so that I can at least get to the shelves on the far wall. Fixed two problems with the daily driver that have been hanging around far too long. Educated myself in the fine art of aluminum polishing, still a rookie but I am determined (I guess the big bucks I dropped on having some other pieces done for the Merc made a believer outta me)...

It is unseasonably warm around here, so I took advantage and went to a junkyard way up in the hills. Got some exhaust manifolds for a V8 in a 54 chevy...and a Factory alum.2x4 intake with carbs...the numbers say its a '56 or '57,. Found a bunch of other stuff I want but only had enough cash for the intake and exhaust.

I actually made enough room to get my car into my garage. The only one on here that will understand how big of a feat this actually is will be Kritz... But it was no small chore! Now I'm trying to muster enough energy to go start yankin' the motor out (gonna re-ring it); but I have a BAD sinus infection, and I'm on quite a cocktail of meds right now; so I might just opt for a coma... http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif
