I've gotten grief for not writing an intro...when I put up my post, I was in a very tight spot and needed help in a hurry...didn't have time and quite frankly, didn't know I was supposed to, put up an intro first.
So to satisfy all the whiners who are too lazy to just ask me about my work and myself...
My name is Annie. I've loved old cars since I was a kid. No one in my family is really into them so I never got taught anything about them. I was dating a guy about 11 years ago who had a nice little '67 fairlane street drag car who told me I should just get my own old car since I loved them so much...that I didn't have to worry about not knowing anything mechanical about them, it was easy to learn.
So I did. I bought myself a '63 Chevy II Nova - 4-door...yes a four door, I'm a photographer and I have to lug around camera equipment, plus I have dogs, etc. no split bench for me, thanks, and I couldn't afford a wagon.
I started learning how to wrench on her with the help of a couple of good friends - I learned most of what I know from my best friend, Al. and the rest from desperation and neccessity.
I also have a '47 chevy truck sitting in my garage waiting for me to get started on...no engine, or tranny, or hood, or left fender....but it's straight, pretty much rust free and I got it for $25. can't beat that.
I started my own all-girl car club early this year for other girls like me who are nuts over cars and wrench on their own. we're called Hell's Kittens.
I go to nearly every car show and event I can make it to. and I'm working on two photographic art projects currently - one is a series of images form El Mirage SCTA time trials and the other is about Car Clubs around So. Cal.
I'm having a show of these two bodies of work on Aug. 26 in Norwalk, CA and then I'm going to expand them both into seperate books.
Anything else? do you want to know my shoe size? my favorite color? jeeze, I feel like I'm on a dating service...
