Anyone know where I can find one of these (just intake) for a lot less cash? Or are they rare and hard to find?

Yes they are rare and hard to find.
Once in awhile Dalewilch has one, not always an Edelbrock I think M/T made some or perhaps they were Edelbrocks that said M/T on em, or the other way around. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
spam here dubs.dalewilch.com
You other option is take two pieces of pipe and weld some...
Of course unless you're around a bunch of ol' porknbeaners you totaly loose the cool factor. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I dont think you could duplicate that set up for the buy it now price. It is a lot of money though but it might even make a sbc look good! http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I know it's not exactly the same, but http://www.vintagespeed.com/ has a 6 x 2 set-up complete w/ carbs & linkage (all new) for like $1300. Sells just the intake for like $500.

I have seen this set up (or another like from San Jose) for sale several times on ebay (I keep an eye out since I want one).. I have never seen it sell... thou I would love to have it... I also like the Log 6x2 and will probably end of going with something like that on my next project..

I've been trying to get my hands on one for a long time!
A good 'Crossram' is very hard to come by esp if it has carbs to go with it. They do pop up on EBAY from time to time,,even once in awhile in the classifieds here!
Good luck & happy hunting.....Dirty

those are not all that "RARE" at the CHR this year I saw three of the sbc (X1) and two of the pontiac (X2), the rare one is for the chrysler hemi... (X3) I have only seen one, owned by a guy here in town. I have one of the Pontiac X2, it is being polished right now.
I think I spent about 250 on it, and if you keep your eyes open at swaps, you can pick up the chev cross rams for arround 400 if you drive a hard bargain. (without carbs)
the price on Ebay really isnt all that bad with the carbs and linkage.

My Father came home one day with mine. He saw it at a friends and traded a car for it. I took one look at it and claimed it as MINE and a family heirloom. I am now building a car around it... Actually I was trying to find a nice A tudor body to build around the manifold when my Father tried to put the manifold on Ebay so as he could by a 34 pu cab from a friend. I made a fuss and gave him the $$$ to buy the cab, I took one look at how nice the cab was when it came home and laid claim to that to as he was going to put it on a Nissan pu chassis...
