i have a flathead want to run a electric fan. if i run it from the ignition, should i also go to a relay switch? this is an av8 with alum. rad. and helmut dist. when i clear the dist. with the fan, it then hits the filler tube of the rad. so need electric fan. what do ya think?

Amps kill switches more quickly than volts. To do the same job on 6v you have to draw twice the amps. Use heavy guage wire and a relay.

What is the output on the generator?
An electric fan @ 6volts if you can find one is going to draw high amperage. I would be suprised if your electrical system will handle it, especially at night with the lights on!
Convert to 12 volts and be safe, also your 6 volt is probably positive ground!

for anyone interested it is possible to get a 6v positive ground electric fan and keep the car 6v but you are better to run a 6v alternator on such set up.
