I have a rebuilt 48' Buick 248 straight eight that has no oil lines with it. Can anyone help me with a map, picture or technical drawing of where the six fittings connect????? I have attached a pic of my engine with the oil fittings outlined in red. Thanks MUCH for any and all help in advance!!!
Am I seeing things, or is there another one (painted) at the very front of the main oil galley? Possibly you already know what that one is for?
I'll take a guess. F to A; Feed from main gallery to rocker arm oil. C to E for filter drain/return and lube for dist drive gear. G to B for filter feed. B needs a restricted fitting to trickle oil into bypass filter. Maybe .060 0r .090 in. solder up the fitting and drill a hole in the solder. F and G are both on main gallery so either could be used for either line. Plug D. I'd think that also is a rocker arm feed? maybe?
48 super- I have a 1950 263ci. motor only. It came with all of the oil lines in place. on it the lines are hooked as follows, A to C, B to F, and E to pressure gauge. My block has no outlet hole where you have one at D. All of the fittings will fit in any of the holes, the one with the smallest orifice goes in the head (A) to restrict flow to the rockers. Hope this helps. G is plugged.
ok, E makes sense now looks like it has a connection to the gallery. And the factory has the filter out (C) feeding the rockers (A). So plugs in D and G. thanks airhead
