Great video! Anyone notice the clothing? Seems everyone dressed up for the event, even in the pits! Pretty clean cut crowd!
I was there - rained for a few days prior, they brought out jet heaters, helicopters, everything they could find. Compressed a lot of racing into half of Saturday and all of Sunday. Great time, and if I recall, the first sub-7 second run by a AA fuel dragster was recorded that day -
Now that really brings back some memories from the good old day's of drag racing. I remember when the guys flat towed a 1963 Chevrolet running C/PM with an old Buick station wagon from Connecticut to Indy with a tow bar. Those were the day's!!!!!!!!!!
Hey Violet Springs....did they ever get the Gasser meet in under the rain at Thompson? I know it was rained out twice....I was at Jalopyrama the weekend they were trying it again. Shame they get such bad breaks at Thompson from Mother Nature. Are you going to Canton swap this weekend?
NICE! Here is another! <iframe width="640" height="480" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/K5GuXxxBtYE" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
Wow! just watched the first clip! Was that the McMullen roadster? Check the red Willys lifting the wheel on the gearshift right near the end. Fantastic. Mart.
Sweet ! I don't recall seeing the Stone,Woods and Cook car in black before, sure was a lot of nice stuff at that meet.
I did not make it to Thompson for the Gasser race the for third try, if I remember correctly the weather was dry but cold. Yes I plan on going to the Canton Swap meet.
Look at the car shown at the 30 sec to 35 sec mark in the first pamona video. I think it is my dad's gasser that used to race at Pomona and a few other local track back in the early to mid 60's. same year, both black primer, both have hood scoops and 14" front 5 spokes.. wish I could figure out how to get a better frame from that video to blow it up better. not to many 51 chevy gassers back then..
