Great question, might as well include the '48/'51 F1. I'm wondering the same thing about the early F1's. Do the S10/ Blazer frames work under these trucks to?

i would think as long as the wheel base and the trac width were close enuff it should work just as well as the chevys?

I can go out and measure track width, I know the wheelbase for the 51 f-1 shortbed is 114". Ill get an approximate width measurement maybe tonight(its really cold) definately by tomorrow
Yes It does work. There is two of them in the works around here. JayGeff is going to town on his. I haven't seen it yet so I can't give any reports on it.
There is another one that is a forever project. I helped get the body on the frame and some other stuff. The work I did was about 3 or 4 years ago.
The Chevy's are best if you space the body off of the frame. The Fords are best put directly on the frame. If memory serves me right we used the stock rear cab mounts on the one I helped do. The back of the cab needs cut out a little for the frame. I think the S-10 frame is about an inch or two wider than the stock Ford frame.

My Father just did one. late 40's-early 50's ford to an S-10. He said it worked out well. The track looked a little narrow to me. As usual my Father cut, sawed and welded until it was up and rolling, then away it went, traded it for a T touring body, early nailhead and cash. Now he'll cut, grind and weld on the T until it's a roller before he trades it off on another pile of tin.The dude whom got it chopped it and last time I saw it he had it very close to a run around the block. If you REALLY want I can get photo's of it.

This is a 51 or 52 that the son of a friend of mine put together on a S-10 frame. It is bagged in this picture. Pat

I have seen some 40's & 50's ford P/U's on ranger frames and the folks who had them said that they like the set up (because they stayed all ford) and it was almost a bolt on............joe

My Father and I where hanging out yesterday and I asked him about this. He says he can do a majority of the work in 2 days. He then took me over to see how his friend was making out with his. When he opened the garage door I just about fell down, then I ran to the car to grab my camera. I'll try to post pics later tonite. This guy has TASTE he's done some KILLER work on the truck since he's accuired it from my Father. I was expecting the typical tilt column, 350/350, red paint, billet wheeled nightmare that seems to proliferate our local area. NOPE not this time... Dude opted to leave the cookie cutter in the drawer and get out his hack saw and mig welder instead...

Here ya go. He's gone and narrowed the complete front end 7.5 inches so the wheel's aren't burried under the fenders with the narrow s/10 track. It looks KILLER...
