i have heard that american racing is making thr tru's again. i looked on their website and they dont list them on there. anyone know anything about this? i need some for my olds.

I thought at one time Crager and Tru-Spoke was one in the same............But I don't know about now....

I come across used Tru's once in awhile. I know of two Tru-Classics for 50 bucks. I'll keep my eyes open for ya'.......Out here they're in everybody's closet or Shed( ever since Daytons became the rim of choice).......Neal

Rad's right, they're Cragar's not Americans. They can still be purchased new, but they're not cheap. summitracing.com has them, they go for 180 each. You may be able to find them cheaper. That link is not the same TruSpoke wheel I remember from the 70's. They had thinner spokes and more of them. The hub looked more Model A-ish too.

The ones on the Cragar site are the old starwires. Truspokes may have been made by appliance as they made similar ones years ago. I used to run the ones laced directly to the rim on my 55 chev mild custom years ago in the 80's and changed to the style that laced to a ring inside the rim as the early rim laced ones were leakers. They used to go out of round too and needed to be adjusted. The big center wire wheels were McCleans. The star wires don't have near as many spokes as the tru spokes had.This pic shows the 2nd type of tru spoke. Maybe someone can lighten it up. Pat

I seem to remember that AP (Apliance Plating) made a wire wheel too. Not the same as Tru Spokes.

I'ts the adjustabe nipple thru the rim type and it's got a mess of duct tape covering the nipples inside.

Yes the "Trus" from Cragar are the old Starwires, Cragar was at one time remaking the "Trus" that you remember, they were actually a copy of the old Buick wires, but apparently Cragar has dropped those. Appliance made a similar wheel (they were made in Japan) but they did not build them for Tru-Spoke. They (the Appliances) were a tubeless wheel, while the Tru-spokes were not. -SAM

5SPOKE has it right. The origional Tru-Spoke was a copy of the old Buick wire wheel from the mid 50's. I bought a set when they first came out. I was going to build a restorod '29 2dr. I sold the project before it was finished and kept the wheels. About a year ago a friend of mine asked about them and bought them for a project he is doing. I told him thet wern't right for the theme he was after but he insisted. They may be in his attic for the next 15 yrs.

Hell, I don't know...they're Tru-Spokes...they didn't come with different spoke counts like the D's and other Modern Day Cowboy rims.

There was Tru-Spokes..then Came Tru-Clasics and came Tru-Rays. Tru-Rays being my favorites.....MCleans were a Tru-Ray want-a-be rim....I think the caps were even interchangeable.

I can remember back in the day when the cap with the Corvette flags was the sought after choice for lay lows running Rays.....

Just about every Mike Pickle poster had a car with Tru-Spokes on 'em....

They are 15" not sure of the width on any of them but the backs are wider than the fronts..I'm thinking like 15x6 up front and 15x8 on the backs. I could be wrong. Standard GM pattern (5 on 5?) I do have four of em. They all have tires on em too but I can take them off. I'm tired of them sitting in my basement so make me an offer..

Look at these on eBay 2449709482, they are listed under Halibrand...they look like the Tru-spokes I remember having on my '48 Chevy sedan delivery 25 years ago.

Whoever has the GTO fit wires they would 5 on 4-3/4 bolt circle - commonly called small Chevy,

I have a set of True Spoke 14X6s but they have the uni-lug patern and require correct size lug nuts to fit. I think that was the reason they stopped producing that type was due to law suits on failures of the uni-lug design.

Yes, they did come with different spoke counts, They had 40, 45, and 50 spokes. I will also have you know, McLeans were around waaayyyy before Tru-rays and Tru classics. Tru-rays were a want-a-be McLean. By the way, Tru rays, at first, were made for Corrvettes only. The were made out of Chevy rally wheels. Were do you think the name came from? Sting-ray, Tru-ray. Get it?
