Today's gotta be the best - productive! "Sunday" - I've had in a long, LONG while. Not only was it the sunniest, DRIEST day we've had here in probably a month, but I actually had the day off, this time.
So of course I got rockin' on the '57.
Yeah, I'm a fool for not having it back in a garage for winter yet. But being the fool as it is, I've also been On It, keeping the daily dew & surface rust at bay while not finding (and affording) extra garage space, 'til it was clear 'n dry enough to primer her up.
And had I gotten hold of the neighbor to use his outlet for the air compressor (as we'd planned) it would've been primered today. Even so, short of masking the rear and side windows, and giving the rear frame a power scrub, I'm all set for primer tomorrow (weather's expected to be as nice tomorrow, and I'm not due at Work 'til 3).
On top of this, I got MAJOR help from one of my gf's sons, Abe (19) (it's hard getting him to help with anything, to pull him from the TV, much of the help's come from his younger bro, Luke). He wasn't even constantly looking at his watch, this time.
After masking the windshield and teaching Abe the wonders of blue tape, I paint stripped the "brow" (above the windshield) cowl vent-deck and bottom rolling pan (all primered in April, grown rust 'neath it since), while he went to town with the metal etch. Later on I laid on some rust neutralizer for the few Worst Areas. Not that many, surprisingly.
Didn't get any pics taken, but this one's from last month or earlier this month, just to give you an idea. Front hood's been unattached to primer seperately. Am about to return to the garage (can only use it for storage, not for the truck) to paint strip the inner fenders.
Should have digi pics for you tomorrow, and more after the film gets developed (Justin Case the cheap digi's don't come out that well).
So, I'm euphoric: got so much done on a rare sunny/dry Winter's day, and got Abe out of the house and workin' with minimal complaint. Paid him with an extra large pizza, later on.
The pic's not the best, this is what happens when the sunlight his pinkish bondo and clear headlight dead on. Oh well.
What a day. Tomorrow should be even better. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif Just you wait 'n see.
