Hey, I've been lurking for a while, I wanted to introduce myself.
I've been working on cars since I was a kid, and one of my first cars was a chopped '58 Ford pick up.
I know how to weld, and form metal. I minored in (metal) sculpture in college. I've never used an english wheel, but I'd like to some day...
I grew up living across the street from a guy named Mike Gillhousen. Anyone know him?? He's had lots of his cars in magazines. All Fords. He had a killer white '51 (I think) chopped, sectioned Merc - it had hand lettering on the back that said "I love America, my mother, and my Merc" and in smaller lettering it said "And fuck the rest of you". He also had a chopped Ford Anglia wagon, and another chopped early 60's station wagon (Ford).
I'm currently looking for a new project car, and I think I've found one.
My uncle told me that his old Lincoln is sitting in a field by where he lived when he was a teen. He couldn't sell it back then, no one wanted a Lincoln, and a 2 door at that! So he parked it in a field and got another car. I'm not sure what year it is, but it's a pre '55, I think.
Anyway, I have some other projects in the works that I'll tell you about later. Is VW a bad word here??
