i made a set of louvre rollers for my hand gennie,,, you can buy these at lowbuck tools i made my own

they do cut louvres but do distort the sheet a bit it's better if the slot is cut with a thin cutting disc and then the rollers form the louvre shape the ends of the louvre are not quite the normal shape but can be dressed to the correct shape or left as is

they can also do curved louvrres

Thanks fellas.

I'm looking to do this as a little side business, so the quality of the punched louver would have to be pretty good. I don't plan on doing tons of stuff...but I'd rather spend a little more now to be able to produce an excellent quality end product for folks.

Should I be looking at hydraulic bench press set-ups, or will manual work:

Looking at the pic.'s above I'm trying to figure out how the heck you would fit a hood in there? Any thoughts?

Mytlo56, I don't think that is what you are looking for unless you were planning on punching the louvers in a small panel then putting it into the hood or other body panel. I think this is more along the limes of what you were thinking of. web page (http://www.mittlerbros.com/Louver_Press.htm) Seems like Street Rodder did an article on this within the last year or so. The frame is similar to the english wheel that is in the new issue of Street Rodder. (Yes you have to assemble it at home from your parts. All that is supplied is the press and dies.) Hope this helps, Eric

thats def not the frame you need. a louver press Is built very much like an english wheel frame.. I am going to build a Powered model sometime soon and I would suggest the same.. My father has a louver press that he built with a setup much like what mitler sells. he currently uses a porta power to create the pressure for the upper hyd ram.. I would suggest something alot quicker.

Its not that you can punch real fast (as alignment is the key to a good job) but once everything is in alignment you want to Make the louver fast enough that nothing is going to move around on you..

just a thought

Thanks guys. I got to looking at the dimensions of that one I posted and came to the same conclusion. Just too little.

Sawzall. Once you get that powered model in check let me know. I would be interested in maybe having you build me one once the bugs are worked out.

Thanks,
Mytlo

Buy the Mitler Bros. kit, build the frame to the specs they supply, reinforce it some more. It's an air/hydraulic setup and works real nice...
