So I've recently caught the bug thanks to my pal Eric. I attended the Moon Xmas party this weekend and we stoked by all the killer rods. I went there to get a glimpse into what style of car I want to build of my own and I think I'm definitely leaning toward the ever popular Deuce or later roadster.

I'm not 100% sure of the direction I'll go, but I'm leaning toward a blend of traitional and Kustom. For a first build, am I crazy for starting with such an early model vehicle? I'll probably not being doing the fabrication myself, but who knows.

No, your nor crazy. My first attempts are one my 1928 Essex that I have comming up from Texas this summer and my 62 chevy and I have absouletly no idea what I'm doing, thats why I belong to a site like this, to get questions answered.

I was once young and loved cameros and corvettes...now that i have grown in years and esthetic taste i prefer the early stuff......and no your not crazy.... a model A is a very simple car compared to 60's muscle cars.....i say GO FOR IT!

Not necciarly(sp) its way easier to get parts for 60' cars than a earlier rod... Atleast you dont have to deal with fenders like this ford i have...
Good luck http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

thanks for the input folks. I'm looking forward to the adventure. Now, how do I keep my wife from divorcing me during the project?

Just keep saying your building it for her... plus always lie when they ask" how mutch did you pay for that " Say you buy a pair of rimes and tires..... Just say, their used and were on sale at walmart or pep boys.... haha

We're all crazy. Otherwise we'd be happy with perfectly fine new cars. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

Its best if they have no idea of how much things costin the first place, for example my mom thinks according to my dad, that a paint job is about $200, exhaust is $150, body work will max out at $2,000 including building a frame, interior is around $500 and the like http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Hey, do what you wanna do dude http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shocked.gif. I never took my car test until I was 29 years old. Too old to start? http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gifnaaaaa! First car was a Renault!? Second was a Chevy Nova. Third was a home built 'T' thing. Fourth is a '34 Morris Eight rod that's being built ground up. Break with convention, do the unusual. Be different and to hell with 'the norm' http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Oh, and this is another un-normal thing I put together a while ago.
