Nice lookin' flames...I took a workshop from Craig Frazier where he emphasized the use of "negative space"...you have used the negative space well in your flame job. yeah, I forgot to mention that I love how you used the base color as another set of flames as well.

you dont have to listen to anything I say, all I do is draw them in my notebooks.

Looks good to me. I personally try to avoid flames on a shop wall but its just a carma thing for me. Had a shop burn once with me and my ride in it. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif we got out, scorched but survived. ooops OT sorry.

hey man... they are some seriously good flames... but you asked for comments, so here they come!

some of your flames have a "back-lick" (for example the very far left, and also just near the top), but there are only four or five of these in the whole piece. one of the most important things to make flames look good is to make sure the THEME runs through the whole thing fluidly. i think, on this piece, you needed either more, OR NONE, of the backlicks to make it look just right.

the other guys are right, your use of negative space (making the white background a set of flames in itself) is excellent. you can take that effect to a whole new level by extending the tips of those licks right over the top of the coloured section back INTO the white, with just a pinstriped outline to show the way. it's harder to plan, but it means the white (or background colour) set of flames escapes from the boundaries of the coloured set, and the whole thing just comes to life.

i've attached an image that, unfortunately, only slightly demonstrates what i want it to...

having said all that, they're just suggestions, and you should be happy with what ya got 'cause most people sure couldn't do that! keep practising, keep posting the results, and start doing it on people's cars! you'll be really popular...
