Greetings to all. My name is tommy b and I live in Golden, CO, about 2 miles from the Coors brewery, where I worked for 25 years before I retired in 1999. (yes, back then we were allowed to drink during working hours. And they even paid me a salary!) My introduction to hotrodding was in the late 50's when I stuffed a 283 Chevy engine into a 48 Merc. Then came the installation of a 55 Caddy engine and hydramatic into my 58 Ford pickup. In 1970, I bought a Jeep CJ5 with a 265 Chevy engine in it. I replaced the engine with a 283 Chevy and am currently starting to restoring the body on it. In 1989, I bought a 51 Ford Victoria into which I'm installing a 351 Windsor, C4 tranny, and Maverick rear end. I am pretty much done with the body work and painting and am ready to fit the engine and reassemble the car.
I like to do as much of the work myself as i can. I am currently enrolled in an evening bodywork class at the local Votech school, where I do the sheet metal work and painting. I have always liked working on cars ever since I did my first brake job on my dad's 50 merc when I was 16. Although I'm not too good at electrics, I have rewired my Jeep and am in the process of rewiring the Ford, making my own harnesses from scratch.
I hope to get a lot of questions answered here and, hopefully share some of my knowledge as well.
