I picked a old Banjo wheel yesterday. The outer rim is cracked and dry rotted with 1/4 gaps in areas. The center and spokes are in great shape. How do we repair the outer rim?JB weld?Epoxy?

This and several other wheels were repaired using PC-7 two part epoxy paste available from any home store or hardware. I like to undercut the separations with a bare hacksaw blade to give the crack a keystone cross section. My bajo needed some areas built up where the spokes met the rim. It comes in white and black. Great stuff.
Just like bondo work. Build it up, file it to shape and then primer and sand.

PC7 is the stuff.Available from any decent Hardware store.
Or you can pay a small fortune, and get the same thing from Eastwood.
