anyoen else has some fucked up issues with this place. I ordered a steering wheel, horn button, and adapter, an dhad to wait fuckign forever for the shit, called them like 3 times and only got an explanation once, (out of stock and they weren't even going to tell me). Just when i thikn things are ok, i got the wheel and all, more stupid shit. The past two years my ma got me a hat for mthem for christmas, now when you order they use your phone number for your account, address, and all that shit. Now i ordered this shit, paid them with my card. an dmy mom tells me today that she has a charge on her credit card (the one she used over a year ago to order my hat) for $103 or something. I haven't been able to call yet, but I'm guessing that they kept her card info and charged BOTH OF US for what I ordered cos we share the same address. They are not supposed to keep this information correct? I'm goign to call monday and see what the fuck is going on, I just wondered if anyone else have had similar experiences.

I got my shit, they're just chargine us twice for it, on TWO different cards, they should NOT have still had my moms credit card info from what I have been told. My mom is a pissed off old lady right now, and that ain't a pretty sight at all.

It's not unusual for companies to keep credit card numbers on file.
Used properly it saves mistakes and time, which saves everyone aggrivation and money.
Double billing is Bullshit.Phone Moon and straighten them out.
Your Mother didn't authorize that charge, she doesn't have to pay it.
Mooneyes customer service and quality sucks...

I have tried to get my deep "lees" lenses for my 54 chevy for a year now , no deal, they are always "out of stock", but they took my $$ immediately!
they were to have them today at the show , ( so they said ), they sold out before I got there,,,, at 9:30 am ? !
cash and carry with mooneys, I no longer "order" anything from them.

it's amazing to me that mooneyes can stay in business with their bad reputation and poor service. i've had problems with them,i won't but anything directly from them,i'd never give them my credit card....once they have your money they don't seam to give a damm. i guess they rely on getting new customers who are not aware

They made sure they didn't charge me until the item shipped, I'll give em that. But they almost screwed me up when they hadn't told me it was out of stock, cos I thought that money was out of my account so i was spending that shit.

Same here I ordered a shift knobe over 6 mounths ago. We
called after not seeing it for 4 weeks. Off course they were clueless! Then they tryed to sell me another one for more. I still haven't seen it. Offcourse they have the money. A simple phone call would have corrected the problem. I understand that custom parts take time. But the customer service! There is no excuse.

I placed an order for a steering wheel a couple of years back, It took 7 months for it to show up, and that was after I called to check on the order, and cancell if it wasn't available. For some odd reason, they just happened to get it in that day. They have got some cool stuff, but they have some shady ordering and shipping techniques... thats for sure!

maybe in their own little way they're trying to get us back for hiroshima. i had no idea about this, glad i know now. i won't order from them.
Always.....Always, ask "is the item in stock?"
I learned this lesson years ago, unfortunately they have
not learned the lesson and continue to piss people off.

I don't buy not a single nail from them. There are enough others that deserve the money. By the way I think most of their stuff is late '50/60's oriented, not my cup of tee anyway. I get sick if I see those iron cross mirrors from China, what a shit.

Here's their M.O. -- they'll prototype a new item, a steering wheel, shift knob, whatever, then thow a photo of the prototype into one of their ads. If it gets enough response, they'll try and figure out how to produce it -- and they'll finance the production run with YOUR money. That way a new product introduction is never a gamble, and there's no money out of Mooneye's pocket to bring it to market.

and that plastic chrome- i think the tachs are plastic now too
They lied to me. I called about stocking their product in the rodshop. I specifically asked about buy ins. They said no,nada noothing. So I pumped them up to our regular customers to build a starting order. I had around $400 in wholesale items. Then when I called to place an order I was told there was a $1500 buy in? Called me a liar and that they would have never told me there was no buy in. I dont mind minimums but I hate being lied to.

Most of the shit they sell with their name on it they seem to stock well, but the other stuff is hit and miss.
The whole deal with them and their service is they are understaffed and the people that do work there are under payed (you all know you get what you pay for)
I am lucky to live close to them, if they dont have it in stock I dont buy it. I have a coupe of friends that gave them deposits and got screwed over for months of "two more weeks".
The best thing is they were out of 15" moon discs for almost a year... HAHAHAHAHAHA!
Tman I had to have a buy in at $3000 back in '97 when I was a dealer. Mooneyes certainly do suck. The wholesale prices left very little room for a decent profit.
It ain't no speed shop for sure, it's a trinket store.

You should have your mom call her credit card company. I believe what they did by putting an unauthorized is illegal. They might get spanked for it.

Talked to them earlier and haven't gotten anythign straightened out, Theres nothing anywhere sayign they took the money from my account, just that they charged it to my moms card. THe bank has been useless as well, guess I"ll have to wait for my statement, cos I know that cash just didn't disappear.

I don't even think I'm going to wear my mooneyes hat anymore after this bullshit. Once this is straightened out, they won't have to worry about hearing from me again.
You guys think they got to you.I sent two 16" good tires to them to have Hurst recap them, they told me they could't be caped and they would return them.I forgot all about them and a few months later I went to a sale at their place and they were selling my tires. I jumped on Checo and he gave them back. What would have happened had I not been there? I think they are all screwed up, not like it was when Dean owned It.--TV http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif

I bought some acrylic dash knobs at a Greedyguys show. They didn't have enough for me at the show so I paid for all of them and they said they'd send the other three when they got home. Waited weeks, called, out of stock. Called and called. Finally called one day and they said they were filling orders for them. However nobody checked the back orders and until I got hot about not filling back orders first they didn't want to send me mine. They wanted to fill the new orders they had for them and have ME "WAIT FOR THE NEXT SHIPMENT." I blew my stack and finally got them. If it ain't on the table I ain't buyin.

I can tell you that dealing with mooneyes is a horror story. I am one of their dealers. They have done nothing for me besides screw me constantly on every single order Ive ever placed with them. Half of the time when they arent screwing up an order, charging a screwed up amount, or shipping to the wrong locations, they are sending junk products. I have yet to get a good tach from them. Their gauge sets that cost a cool hundred bucks more than autometer are screwed up half the time, and yes they never have stuff in stock. I will tell you this though, if you still insist on buying moon products, call and ask for Robin or Bob. Bob seems to know everything about everything there. Robin is the only person I deal with now as she has taken care of my problems and I haven't had a mischarged or shipping problem since I started dealing with her. There is still the product quality problem and out of stock problem that her or Bob can do nothing about. WHATEVER YOU DO, DO NOT DEAL WITH DAN! He is a friggin idiot. He knows nothing but picking his nose. He cant ship right, bill right, and he doesnt know anything about their products what-so-ever. I hope that some of this info will help you guys out and sorry I dont have better news for you. When I became a dealer of their stuff I knew nothing of the problems they had. Its really sad to see a company that could be so much piss it all away. I do think that if you want moon stuff you better buy it now because at the rate they are going they cant stay open too much longer.

All I know is before you even attempt to buy a Tach from them, find out how long before they get it in stock, some of the products have been back ordered for months and months. I doubt you would get it by christmas.

This is an old post and I remember posting on another thread about them in the spring complaining about the 5 week wait for some guages, but my sister ordered some one piece tail light lens for my 54 as a birthday present and I got them in 3 days, that was really cool ,maybe they are getting better? I totally understand your fustration with that place though.
They have messed up several of my orders. The last thing I ordered from them took 6 months to be delivered and I had to call them three times to make that happen.

seriously, i think they have some good stuff, but it is worth it to go down to the shop as opposed to ordering from them. if that isnt a possibility, its probably worth setting something up with a socal hamber, whereby they take your bucks, buy your stuff directly from the store and take care of the mailing for you, without getting the credit cards involved and what not. for a nominal fee, of course :D :D
Even though this is an old thread...since someone brought it back up, I thought I'd share my experience.
I just ordered a 4qt chopper Moon tank & brackets, and a few other odds and ends on Wednesday of last week. My stuff got here on Monday of this week. It was carefully packed and was exactly what I ordered.
I think it makes a difference if you actually call them to ask if what you are ordering is in stock. Case in point, the 4qt tank...I called to make sure they had one before I ordered online. Just in case, I wrote down the part numbers of everything I needed, so they could check everything else I was going to order to make sure they had it. When I called, I got 'Dan', and he said, "Well, our guy who makes our tanks just went on vacation, and since we make the tanks to order, it's going to be the middle of September before we would have one ready."
I was ready to just say forget about it, but I asked if he would double check to see if they might have one in stock. He found one, and I ordered the rest of my stuff and it was all in stock as well. No problems, freight was actually cheaper than what he estimated...and it all got here in the 5 days he said it would take.
My suggestion is to pick up the phone and CALL THEM before you actually place an order. Then you'll have a better idea of how long it's actually going to take to get something. If they say a month, then I'd consider trying to find what you need somewhere else, like through one of their dealers.
Maybe I'm just one of the lucky ones, but I think actual human contact with them may make a difference.

Every time these Mooneyes complaint threads resurface, it reminds me to go check out the Moon site see if they've got any new cool gadgets. You guys complaining are probably inadvertently drumming up more business for them. By the way, they've got a neato push button shifter setup now, pricy and all, but shiny and cool to look at anyway.

Not from me! I have avoided all suppliers with bad reps from HAMBers. Unfortunately I was unaware of Stockton Wheel and am still dealing with trying to get my money back, but that's another story. I will probably never order from Moon. There's too many other companies trying harder to please me that deserve my business. And those are the ones that will get it. In this time when companies can't spell customer service, let alone perform it, it means a lot to me to deal with a company that truly appreciates where it's bread is buttered.

I started a thread on this topic a couple of weeks ago. The sent me the same thing twice two months apart. I only wanted one and only ordered one. Got my refund invoice yesterday.
Couple of years ago I ordered there SBC oil pan and TH-350 pan. They were on special with a package price. They sent me a pan for a TH-400.
