do you plan on running juice brakes with the wide fives or cables? im not sure you want the late i beam because its wider or for the juice brakes. i just bought a 37 wide five front assembly with cables. ive got backing plates, drums and a couple of rough rims im not using. remember there cable backing plates, but i believe the drums will go over juice shoes. i actually bought them in stowe in august. the front end was next to the little bridge that goes to the back field. you may have saw them and decided they were to rough. if your interested let me know, ill do some swapping. im from eastern cow hampshire. chad

I've got skeleton (A frame) juice brakes to mount on the spindles. 41- 48 I beam axle is what I need for my application. This is for a modified race car. Check my profile and look up my thread on 36 Chevy modified project. I need 15" x10 wide 5 rims (race car rims), not stock. Any in your area?

Not in the 30's... but by the late 40's/early 50's dirt track modifieds were running wide fives just not 15x10's... maybe 8" wide. They were often fab'd in home garages with steel flat stock rolled to widen the wheels...

By the late 50's guys had discovered aluminum finned Buick drums and the fledgling racing industry started making aluminum and magnesium hubs that adapted the wide five hubs to Buick brakes. Tires started getting wider after a while... the widest we ever used were 15X18's on pavement late models in the late 60's....

Here's a history lesson...
