Here's a little billet work I did, recently. Oh, that's real steel billet, not that new fangled aluminium stuff http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

The spring hanger device was cut with a gas torch and ground with my trusty 4", then drilled on a small bench drill press. Too much work for such a simple part, so I won't make too many others like that http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

I like the color of it. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Looks good, amazing what you can do with a torch drill and grinder isn't it. Most of the real old timmy hot rods weren't built in a machine shop. To coin a term "they were backyard built."
The only way as far as I'm concerned. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Looks good to me.
Have you checked the housing to see if it has distorted?
There looks to be alot of welding on the back of the tubes,
this could possibly make the rear wheels toe out.

Unkl Ian,
Never thought of axle warpage http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif. I'll look into it before final prep.

THAT kind of attention to detail, even on small items,
is what seperates the men from the boys,
on every project that you build...

Good job, man..!! Looks good..!!

I'd mount a couple bare wheels on the axle, make sure the wheels are straight,
then measure the toe with a tape measure.
Check front and back. Also top and bottom.
I'm sure you can get away with a little bit.

Paul, that looks like a lot of time went into making the parts,,,amazing what can be done with a lot of ideas a few tools and pull it of in a shop no bigger than a bread box.
And i whine about not having enough room! http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif HRP
