Well here's my contribution to tech week. My frame jig, I used it to built a racecar now a 31 Tudor. stretched 5" and Z'd 6".There's nothing to technical about building a jig. I went to my local scrapyard and picked up some 6"X 14ft I-beams about 20ft of 2inch square tubing and some 1/4 X 4" plateing. First I welded the 1/4 X 4" plating to the ends of the tubing. 20" long tube and a 6" long plate

Then I tack welded it all together, then bolted it where I wanted it to break down later for storeage. Once I had it square and level I burned it together and walla here it is, nothing fancy but hey

Once I was satisfied with the jig I set my A-bone frame on it and started securing it to the jig. Most of the mounts I made are bolt on so I can remove and reinstall it if I want, but I did weld a couple a supports while I Z'd it for extra insurance. Here's a pic during this period.

And here it is all square, level and secure. Ready to cut http://photo.starblvd.net/~MP33/1-3-3.jpg
Next I marked where I wanted to cut the frame for my Z, This was tricky for me cause I wanted it far enough back so it ended up under the rear seat but yet in a wider part of the frame. I settled on 9" from the center of the rear crossmember forward. Then marked and measured. Next was the Z tubing, I used 2X3 3/16 wall rect. tubing and cut it like I saw on another posting about Z'd frames(thanks Hambers). i think Grimlock(If not i'm sorry to who did) posted a pic that gave the idea for mine

After that was completed my buddy Craig came over and helped me. First we remeasured everything and double checked everything before we made a cut. Once we were satisfied we commenced to cutting and grinding.

Next we tack welded eveything together and then took more measurements, cross square, crossmember to crossmember, level everything and it came out perfect 6" drop and a 5" stretch.

After it was tacked good I welded it solid and measured along the way.

Well Thats about it for now. I still have some welding to do on the bottom, but that will have to wait till I can flip it. I want to thank everybody on the hamb for making this possible for me to do. Without your help and advise i"d be lost. Hell I just learned to post pics this afternoon( I hope they work). So this was a beginners take on how Frame jig/frame Z construction is done. Thank you all!!
Ps. if you see anything I did wrong give me a shout please.
