36 resto rod work truck

I want to build the typ. old guy work truck. I have a good 36 cab and was wondering if anyone has any advice on a doner frame? I looked at a small Inveco? cab over looked better suitted than Chavy 1 ton. Front end looked narrower.
I remember this type of coversion was popular a few years back, so I hope someone has made one and has the template of do's and don'ts.

What's wrong with a '36 frame? The truck frame is not exclusive to the truck. You can use any 35-39 pass car frame.

I agree that it would be much easier to use the early Ford frame. Parts are not too hard to find. You may be thinking of the S10 frame swap. Lot's needs to be done to make this work and I have not seen one look "right". The other area was 4 wheel drives in the 80's where they would plant whatever body onto a 4wd chassis of choice. Think of early Monster trucks.

Keep an eye out on ebay. There have been several '36 big trucks on there lately. There was one even that was frame only.

I would keep my eyes open as I see a lot of 1 ton and bigger frames out there a lot.
People use the cabs under 32ish frames for hot rods so the heavier frames should be out there.
There isn't much to them, so think box tubing ladder frame if you can't find one.

Saw a nice COE car hauler at Macon this weekend.
Asked my wife if I could have one but she says I have enough junk and that
truck could haul a lot of it in a short time.

Now your in my area of work truck. My 29AA started as a 2 1/4ton. Over the last 35 years, I have hauled 5th wheel and pull type RV's 22-30'). Just finished putting one ton running gear in it (for new 34" 5th wheel). DO box at least the front part of frame and add extra crossmembers cab-back and stay with at least a 1 ton frame. People like buying the bigger trucks for the cab to make pickups and sell the frames at a low cost (Most-not all). I adapted disk brakes 8-lug to front, you will need to make/modify all the mounts. I used a 32 Ford frt axle and had the kingpin off set drilled to accept Chev 38 (1 1/2 ton) front kingpins and spindles. Rear is a Corp. 14 bolt. When you find your frame and want/need more info, send me a PM or whatever.

i dont know what the dimensions are of your cab but im putting a s-10 under my 48 f-1. if your keeping the fenders on this might be the way to go and if your going to chevy power it it makes it even easier.
