I like Tech week. I think it's awesome... And it's almost over, so make the last tech posts GOOD!

Tomorrow night sometime, I will post a poll and everyone can vote on their favorite post... Winner gets the goods.

Guys before you vote.. I would like to suggest you consider not only whether the information pertains to you personally and you need it... But also how much work it was to put together and present. IMO

I'm sure glad it's this kind of tech, not like passing tech at the strip.

Red Neck Tech!

Inspector: No an empty KFC bucket on the floorboard does NOT qualify as a "puke can"

Inspector: Sno tars with the tread worn off do NOT qualify as racing slicks!

Inspector: The seat belts are supposed to hold YOU in the seat, not hold the seat in the car!

Inspector: Iffin yer gonna use a Jack Daniels bottle as a catch can, don't wait till yer in the staging lanes to empty it!

I get blown muffler bearings worrying about passing tech!

Tech Week has been great. There is so much good stuff, but alot of it is on the 3rd page with very few replies/views. I know I only have time to read a few posts per day, so I am sure I missed alot of good stuff.

I bet we could BTTT a few of these posts per day for the next month and have Tech Month http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Lots of neat stuff coming out.
It can be intimidating trying to post some tech stuff though, there are a lot of pretty smart guys around here!

I hope a lot of these posts go to techomatic--this week's postings were a good start on an encyclopedia of automotive technology.

Tech suggestion: Perhaps people could be appointed tech editors for differnt areas--chopping, suspensin, early Ford bakes--and collect suggested posts for techomatic inclusion--and any saved goodies from the past.

Yeah, I think it should be Tech Month, not just one week. Or maybe Tech-ALWAYS. I'm actually getting to read alot of good stuff and not having to sort through a bunch of bullshit. Things are like they were when i first joined.

Anyone who has posted a tech have a problem with me printing them out to keep as reference? If so I haven't done it. If not thanks. I like to keep a hard copy of the interesting tech and history for reference.

This was a great idea you had Ryan. This has been probably the best HAMB reading in a very long time. I have also noticed the ot post have nearly dissapered.
There is a lot of people here as well as a lot of respect for this place and you. Thanks again!

It's been a great week. Not just the larger posts with pictures, but the huge number of little tips, and sugestions. Thanks Ryan!

The idea is that TECH week might show a lot of folks what tech posts or general on topic posts can do for all of us... And while I generally don't mind some OT posts, I think this week does show that more discretion should be used when posting them. It was a test used to show all of us (not just me) what the HAMB can be if we work at it...

Would it be wortwhile to pin all this weeks tech posts
at the top of the page, like the auctions?
Just until the end of the week or so.
Some of them might get lost otherwise.

maybe a tech week every month, or every quarter or something would be helpful. i haven't had alot of time to digest it all (working on my own car for a change!) but i really like what is being posted.

i don't have time to read everything as it comes along either. so i've been tagging the ones that look like they contain something of substance to my "favorite threads" and i'll get around to reading them all the way through eventually.

normally i can read all the technical posts in 10 minutes an evening. this week is GREAT!!! there's more info this week than i have time to read. i wish it were that way all the time.

Tech-ALWAYS. This rips. I've noticed more posts from people who really know their business. A few names have popped up that I haven't seen in a while (rogue is a good example - even though he didn't show us progress on his truck) and that is cool. I'm seing a lot more posts from people who's opinion and knowledge I respect - I don't have to use the search function to find posts/replies from these people, you know? Anyone notice that all of these great posts have been taken about as far as they can go and when they're done they just respectfully drop to page two? How many times have you seen someone have to type "BTTT" this week? This is the SHIT. THIS is what I remember.

Don't sweat printing pages you want to keep. I just added a post on how to save the pages direct to your computer.

Maybe put the "All Star" tech posts into the techomatic, and then perhaps add another forum like you did for the drags, and put the "tech week keepers" in there?

It was a great idea and has been a very successful "experiment/exercize", Ryan. I've been dazzled by so many neat threads, from ideas to fully fledged projects, with some excellent methods and tips along the way.

I confess to having nothing important to offer because everyone has already seen all my "white rabbits" and I'm a week away from an interesting, fresh how-to that I've planned to post in a series of related threads very soon.

I'm with Av8...I've been busy lately..And I have a lot of tech stuff I've been building up...but I'll have to wait a week or two to be at a position to post.......Organizing and sorting through the mess of photos and trying to write something comprehensive....I can't write to save my life...

In the spirit of the weekly Friday Night Art Show,
how about one day a week for Tech posts.
Maybe "Tech Post Tuesdays". http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

The Tech Week was cool and I learned a lot but I miss some of the off topic stuff. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

If you do a weekly tech day, I think Tuesday would be good. I don't think that weekends would be as good 'cause there's already so many posts on the weekend.

If you want to do tech weeks on a cycle, I vote quarterly. I think that monthly would be too often.

Just my opinion!

Wow, I gotta agree with everyone else, Tech Week has been super! I've learned alot!

As far as making one day a week for tech, I wonder how long it would be before we run out of topics. Let's face it, even the magazines scrape bottom every now and then. I mean, how many front disc brake install articles have you seen? Or doing a front subframe? It seems like if we had it too much it may get repetitive.

I vote for once a year. People that might want to post something this week may be too busy because of school, or getting ready for Christmas or whatever to post right now. The Tech Week idea came up pretty fast, so more technical articles would be harder to put together on such short notice. If the date was set for next year, people could spend more time getting ready for it and would just have to spend the time posting it. They'd be ready to post, so it seems like it would be easier. I say we make it the second week of December, every year, just like this year. This way, people will have a year to prepare and we all would know when Tech Week is. Plus, if it is the same time every year, we could all look forward to it like The RoundUp, Viva Las Vegas, Paso, or any other great kar event. I think that since the holidays are so close it has made Tech Week just that much more fun!

Just my 2 cents worth.

Thanks Ryan!

I loved it this week. Almost too much to take in. I have one small suggestion-- people really need to think about the title of their topic a little better. What I mean is before you type out that clever topic line, think about the search functionand maybe try to throw a few keywords in so that it'll be easy to find later.Maybe those that did some of these great post could go back and make sure it'll be "search freindly".

DrJ

I think all theech stuff was great and the best part was the REAL titles that actually told what to expect in the thread!
So since it's been so successful I think I'll post a joke.... http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

MOTHER'S MILK

Students in an advanced biology class were taking a mid term. The
last question was "Name seven advantages of mothers milk," worth 70
point or none at all.
One student who had also partied the night before, was hard put to
think of seven advantages.

He finally wrote:

1. It is a perfect formula for the child.
2. It provides immunity against several diseases.
3. It is always available as needed.
4. It is always at the right temperature
5. It is inexpensive
6. It bonds the child to the mother, and vice versa.

And then, the student was stuck. Finally, just before the bell
Indicating the end of the test rang, he
wrote..........................

7. It comes in such cute containers.

He got an "A."
