Just registered this morning, have a lot of learning to do. I have a 1940 olds 60 series coupe that was rodded long ago by someone that was not much of a hand at it. Original front end, 10 bolt rear just barely in there, very tired small block and th350, painted with a paint brush where it was painted at all and a couple of ugly bucket seats bolted to 4x4's on the floor. Several body seams were welded up and I have spent hours cutting out the welds to get the front sheetmetal off. Even had plywood and cabinet moldings glued onto the running boards with some type of boat repair resin, was a bitch to remove. My first priority is to straighten out the front end and running gear so I have come to the forum to learn. I turned wrenches at a chevy dealer years ago but I have a lot of questions about mixing the old with the new to get something that will stop and turn. I like to do my own work as much as possible (I'm also a cheap/poor bastard) so I hope to learn from you guys that have done some of these things before. I have a coworker that is a hardcore old rod guy and he directed me to the forum.
Thanks For Reading, Steve

You have come to the right place. Welcome. And remember there are no stupid questions....no matter how much we giggle and point at you when you ask them.

Welcome from a fellow cheap/poor bastard. As a fan of oddballs and orphans, good to see someone tackling the unusal.

Already getting a bunch of help from hotrodladycrusr and I have been reading the tech board, lot of good stuff. I learned a good bit about paint work on my last car, my challenge with this project is going to be getting the suspension and brakes upgraded. I'll be asking some stupid questions as I get into it a little farther. Appreciate the welcome.

Welcome to the HAMB Steve! Glad to see another Olds guy here. Ask all the questions you want--this is certainly the place to get the answers. Good luck.
