A guy I know bought a 55 Roadmaster, it was quite cheap - why? because a previous owner swapped the engine to a 40hp Mercedes Diesel... http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

to find a nailhead in my country is quite impossible, but we have some SBC available.

what is the best/easiest way to use a SBC in the Roadmaster?

Can a SBC adapted to the torque tube?
or does only a complete engine/tranny/rearaxle swap make sense?
or even a body swap???

Thank you!

I have a 55 Special with a 75 or 76 Malibu rear under it, according to the previous owner. Might just swap rears, would give you more easily fixable rear and move you to open driveline.

OR, you can buy the 364/dynaflow I took out of my 60 Buick. Last year for the enclosed driveline.........

Oops, I didn't read your location. Nevermind about the engine.
