Hello, Im Moparchick. I have a few Mopars, and a Chev. My current state of residency is somewhere between pretending to be sane, and not giving a fugg...
four-thirteen invited me, or at least exposed me to the dark side of the HAMB.

Well...ya prolly wont like my Mopar, I have a Neon with a roll cage, I drag race it and autocross it.
I do have some redeemable qualities however...
I have a 1952 Chevy Short Box. Right now it is in pieces. It's a frame off job. Got a front end kit from Zig's (Mustang II front end, rack and pinion, 2 inch drop spindles, and Camaro brakes). Rear Posi Disc, 283 with camel back heads, Weiand Stealth, Edelbrock carb...the usual...

Dad and I have done a few old cars...
1937 Chev Business Coupe
1941 Chev Special Deluxe
Homemade "Mini-Rig" half 1 ton frame with scaled down semi truck body and 3116 Cat.
1968 Corvette
Many many old pre-1950s John Deere tractors...

Sounds like you're off to a good start with that Chev. What are you planning on doing with it? Got any pictures?

gawd I love being called a "ricer" (rolling my eyes)
what else can you buy for $2000 that runs 13's NA, and gets 30 mpg? anyhow...I figured I would get picked on cuz of it, but hey thats cool. Car looks bone stock from the outside, but it idles like a v8, headlights even flicker cuz of the cams. No loud exhaust, it even looks stock...taken a few mustangs by surprise... http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif
Right now the truck is just a frame, I need to clean it up and get it painted...any suggestions on what paint to use?
Once that is done, the cab and box go back on, the rear and front end are all mounted, so pop the front clip on and drop the engine in, and ta-dah! Let the nickel and dime time begin.
Got a Painless Wiring kit to throw in it, a Caddy steering column with tilt and tele, column shift.
Thinkin of putting in my Powerglide tranny for added uniqueness, but Im not sure I will have enough power to get it to move with that under it...
Thats about it...got some purple goodies for the engine. Truck is green like what it came with originally.
My grampa got the truck for me when I was about 12. He restored it and put a straight 6 in it with the 3 on the tree. It sat after he died and now its getting the makeover...The 283 is out of my great grampas 67 Chevy truck. The whole project is sort of an heirloom... http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Easy guys, this gurl knows her shit. If I asked my G/F what a Caddy Tilt/Telescopic steering column was, she'd think it was something to look at stars with!
Sounds like a nice project. Heirlooms/Sentimental value go a long way (into the pocketbook) towards a nice project. I'm sure all of us would love to see some pictures...

HAHAHAHA
yeah no kiddin huh?
poor thang has been apart for over 3 years. I got a burr in my saddle pad and moved to Cali. Now Im back in the frigid tundra with four-thirteen shoveling snow. Anyone wanna come over and help scrape frame? haha
The crossmember for the tranny is about 3 feet wide where it mounts to the frame. It ended up seeing some salt in the winter years ago and after my grampa died it sat.
each side of the frame where the xmemeber bolts on were gone! completely gone...had to weld new patches in. looks really nice. dad had to do that one, as I was afraid of doing some major damn-age.

I had a friend following me home, me in my chevy II, him in his stock NEON, and I just took off from the stop light like I always do (1/8 throttle or so), I pulled WAY ahead of him, and when we got here he told me he was trying to race me!!! http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

my Neon is an ACR model. Competition version. I also have a daily driver one too. Your friend, did he have an atx or mtx? Atx's are quite slow, as my daily driver is one...
The ACR already had decent mods done to it when I got it. I just added more to it. If only I had slicks now...however, the Neons weakest link is the drivetrain when you start adding slicks on, WHAMMO! If anyone is actually interested in pictures, I have tons of it, including the cage install. It was also in Mopar Now magazine if anyone gets that...
I live in Minnesota with four-thirteen. We have class together. Today is the big day of our robot show. I will take pictures of Mopar Dave's creation...hehehe
Thanks again for all the props guys...its nice to finally get some love in this joint! lol but seriously, the automotive industry and the cult followings are usually not too receptive to women. I am still just like one of the guys so please dont hold back if ya think you have to! http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

MOPARchick,
Welcome to the HAMB. Racing on the cheap, nuthin' wrong with that.
I'd like to see the truck commin' together, of course I'm project oriented. At least someone said that once.
to answer your question on the chassis paint, I like to use a good epoxy (too part). Its durable as the devil, and if you go gloss easy to keep clean.
Someone will say DP90 for sure (also a good choice), but I still prefer a gloss for the chassis. just a personal thing I guess.

Welcome to the board MOPARchick.
neons aren't mitsubishis, and not all of them are lame grocery getters. Take a look at the SRT-4. I Slalomed my old '71 camaro a couple of times and got beat by alot of neons. Truck is looking good. we built one with almost identical parts in the shop I worked at last summer. Came out real nice, with a great stance. went back yesterday to say hi and found out the kid wrecked it. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

Hey all... the 49 is still in Alabamy... I'm heading back there on the 18th, just in time to put the ol wreath (or is it "reef?) around the bullet and have a nice drive up to Volunteer country to hang out with my buds at the Jack Daniels distillery. I WILL NOT puke out of my window, that is not ladylike (and will f.u. the paint!)... but if I do get schnockered enough to spew, alls I have to do is turn left at a speed of at least 25 and my passenger door flies open automatically, giving me ample time to TCB before straightening back out, and having the door swing back into the closed position! http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

[/ QUOTE ] did you miss the 47-55 chev truck? i think its pretty damn cool a chick is into it that much(besides "oh,thats a pretty car"), this will be a great place for her to learn more, maybe get more into trad. stuff
for the record i never had a rice auto but i did have a gsxr, a zx7 ,and a cbr, the only time i ever saw a buell was in my rearview mirror, but they always looked like a tiny little dot http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif
when i think american bikes i think harley and indian, cal bobber style, a buell impresses me as a sad attempt to try and keep up whith the jap bikes, hell her neon will probely kick most buells asses http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
correct me if im wrong but isnt a buell a european chassis with a harley motor http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif, not very trad. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif
No a buell is all American and what a great bike too,the thing is a wheelie monster.Ok so i have a Gsxr 750 srad it's a factory blue print and the fastest one they ever made 178 mph out of a 750.But i also like to take it easy once in a while and the buell out monsters the Ducati monster it's a wonderful sweet handling bike that lifts the front wheel with a twist of pure torque.I hate harleys and indians generally i just dont like the chopper type style but buells well Harley got that one right by letting the blokes get on and make it,bloody fantasic.............Mad Marq

I usually don't get involved in all of this "sand in my vagina" crap, but for what it's worth....
I have seen a neon destroy a Viper and post 9.24 @ 157mph.
Not that beating a Viper is a huge accomplishment, but doing it in a Neon is pretty funny (for the dickless Viper driver)...
Now, let's talk about shitty OLD cars for a while...

Dodge and PLymouth are responsible for the neons...
Last I checked the chrysler corp was american...
My xr4ti is technically an import, although designed by ford. 2.3 ford motor. And Its seen gt mustangs, camaros, damn near every ricer around these parts go down. Not saying it hasnt been beat, but for 1500 bucks, It had better get beat sometimes... Never had it on a strip though, so who knows what it really does. No thirty two they don't all do that ,my gixer is faster than my mates yamaha r1 which is a top superbike 1000 cc,although a gsxr1300 hyabusa will trash my gsxr on the straight around corners it's toast. But as with all things it's not the top speed with superbikes it's how they get there,My gixer weighs around 175 kilos say 360lbs it has 145 bhp at the rear wheel which is about 775 bhp to the tonne at the rear wheel .A bike accelerates real quick if taken carefully ,in other words don't feed all the power in one go or you will just stay in one spot with the smell of rubber.Bout time you got someone to take you out, never know you may like it....Mad Marq
