My last post was my intro and I told everyone about my upcoming '55 Ford project. Since then the 6 banger has been removed and my brothers and I tore down an early model 289 and took it to the machine shop for the standard hot tank, kiss cut, etc. prep job. Should be ready this week. Next up is the engine/C4 trans rebuild. Can't wait to get my hands dirty with that. If anyone knows of a shop that sells engine mount kits for a reasonable price, it would be a help. Since Butch's Rod Shop closed, the best I can find is $120.00---NO WAY. The plan for now is to get some angle iron and build the dang mounts ourselves. Cheers to Tech Week and filtering the social drama that isn't needed in our beloved passion for cars.

you can make your mounts for nothing. Position your engine in the car with the rubber mounts that are stock for your engine, make cardboard templates to fit the gap between the frame and mount, transfer the pattern to 1/8" metal, cut 1/8 metal, weld in.

Speedway has a bunch of different mounts, if you called them up someone might be able to help out with which one you want.

Relentless, how about posting a picture of your 55'. I have been wanting to build one for years but haven't found the right candidate yet. Sam

When I put my 302 in my 55 wagon I used 79 mustang/Capri V8 mounts. Inlarged stock hole in the frame, put trans on stock crossmember. Cal

Make any updates/modifications to your frame so it will accept a stock '55 V8 (there is a difference in the pads where the motor mounts bolt). Then get replacement motormounts for a '64 or earlier Ford full-size car with a 289. The mounts will bolt that 289 into your '55.
Or, with the same modifications to your frame, a big block Ford bolts in too (different motor mounts).
You may have to drill a hole or two or slot something here or there but it will work.
