Hey guys,
I'm siitn' here staring at my shoebox (which is still for sale http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif) and I'm thinking she would look good with radiused wheel wels. I've always liked the look of a slighty section shoebox and was thinking that radiusing out the wheel wels would help give the appeance of there being a little less body fat there. what do you think?
As she sits now...

My opinion for what it's worth: " '49'50'51 coupes are, after 1939 the most stylish body style Ford made. Don't mess with it.

I agree, With the side view of the radiuses wheels, you can't tell which is the front end. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I have a customized 50 Ford with radiused rear wheelwells that was done in the late 50s or early 60s. I like it. Its traditional. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif that said, I always thought that radiused wheelwells were a 'competition car' thing, more than a custom thing.

Chalk another one up for "don't do it". It's obviously up to you ultimately, but the beauty of those cars is their simplicity...but cutting out the wheel wells makes the body lines TOO simple to me...but that's just me.

no, not if you are really selling it.
yes, if you are keeping it and that's what You want.

I like them radiused, but it seems like a lot of work if you're going to sell it

looks good the way it is...plus might make it harder to sell
If yu're going to sell it, just sell it!
Don't go ANYTHING to it, other than make it run and stop good enough for the buyer to get it and himself home in one piece.
The more you "DO to it" the more you are going to think it's worth and the less a buyer is going to think it's worth because he's likely to figure what it will take to UNDO what you did to it.
After all, you know she's going to want it different!
Oh, and I like them radiused.
In fact the more you do to a car that has all the style of a shoebox on wheels the better!
And as far as knowing which end is the front, if the wheel opening size is the only indication then the whole shape has problens that need fixing, Or that viewer needs glasses! http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif
nope, dont like it.
dont even like it on sectioned cars,
but again if your gona keep it do what you want, if your gona sale it i wouldnt
my 2 cents

If you're itching to radius some wheel wells, you're welcome to come up north and cut up my '53!
I LOVE the look on most cars, but it really seems like a '49-'51 is about the last model I'd do it on.
They look great the way they are.
