Ok, so I've stripped my entire floor pan and I found some
small rust holes on the driver's side...
the biggest is about the size of a Quarter or so...
(mostly right under where the flat wire loom goes...carpet was SOAKED..!!)

I didn't have a grinder handy but it looks like the surrounding sheetmetal
is pretty beat too... I poked around and found a few more holes nearby...
(my heater core was obviously leaking for quite a while...)

Anyway, here are my questions:

First off, does anybody know of a place that sells floor pan
patch panels for a '65 Riviera..?? or should I just fab my own..??
no biggie either way...just more time spent, that's all...

Secondly, with POR-15, do you HAVE to use the metal prep and degreaser..??
or can I just brush that stuff right on and not worry about it to much..??
I've wire brushed everything pretty good, and it's pretty darn clean now...
It'll be getting TONS of insulation and then carpet on top of that...

Also, is it at all possible that the fumes could be any sort
of a problem with my new paint job..??
I don't want my paint to start melting/peeling or any such craziness..!!

Any advice, info, tips, tricks, etc. would be great..!!
Thanks alot..!!! -Snacks

I didn't look around much, but they're easy enough to make others work. It's not show piece, purely functional, but I made some for my girlfriend's '64 from some '65 chevy truck floorpan leftovers. Cut, hammer, weld, hammer, repeat.

You're flyin' on that Riv now, Jack. Saw it the other day heading up Soquel Ave -- in the sun. Jeez, did it sparkle. On the POR-15, I've been using it without all the metal prep stuff. Actually used it with and without, and didn't seem to be any difference. Wire brush and clean everything up real good first, and go for it. Weather is perfect now, too. POR-15 likes it humid when it cures.

uh, y'know you are supposed to fix the rust before you paint the car? http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

i've read that 60-64 Impala floor pans are very close to the riviera ones in the right spots.

Snacky, Sounds like the aforementioned free deal may be the way to go, but if that doesn't work out - C.A.R.S. in New Jersey has them - 908-369-3666.

By the way, anyone who owns a 63-65 Riv should have one of C.A.R.S. Riv parts catalogs. They have stuff that is very difficult to find anywhere else.

POR15 will not stick to metal with any grease on it and has trouble with really smooth metal. The Metal Prep etcher neutralizes the rust and makes the paint stick easier. You don't need POR15s degreaser. Any degreaser will work.

I saw a guy restoring a 57 Tbird with cheesy pinhole areas in floor take the POR-15 and laid fiberglass matte over the areas and brushed on the por15 as a substitute for the resin. it hardened the matte super hard and best part is its black....was real strong too.

Thanks guys... I appreciate the info...

Dave, I'm stoked it looks good driving down the road too..!!
It's pretty cool to look at my reflection in storefront windows as I'm
driving down Soquel Ave. etc... Hahaha..!!!
But I'd love to watch it cruise down the street in the sunlight too..!!

The replacement front floorpan is pretty cheap, I think I might just do that...
It's been raining alot, so I have some time to kill to just do it right...

FKNPOZER,
Thanks alot for the offer, but I'm not going to be over that way anytime soon...

Later, Snacks...
