On how to redo the roof on a stock Model A. I have a bolt of white Vinyl and new roof wood. Can some one post the "how to" on putting it all together? I have a 28 Closed Cab PU but there can't be to much difference between cars. Cotton batting and chicken wire or a masonite panel...I don't care...just show me how its done.

I used rabbit cage wire and 1/2"foam on my '28 truck.Trim the foam or padding to within 1/4" of the edge.Lay on your vynal & staple it in the front center.Pull the center snug and staple in the rear.Do the same on the sides.Now work your way out to the corners pulling the material Tight as you go.Work your way around evenly from the center to the corners and trim the excess when finished.I try to work on a HOT day to get things nice & tight.Cover your staples with the nail strips & you're done! http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Yours should be much simpler since you are dealing with a perfectly flat roof.


The traditional way is tar paper, lots of nails, and roofing cement put on with a trowel...if you're too poor, just try to get a decent hat.
