Since this will be the first engine rebuild i've done, i wanted to ask you guys if i had all the right stuff listed...

It's for my friend's engine, and it was easier to scan the vulgar list that i made when it was shit-faced last night... Plus, i figured you guys might get a kick out of it...

Items with arrows are necessary... Items with a "+" are ones that i thought might be case-sensitive, so i figured i should ask you guys... Items with the "A" are side-notes and drunken after-thoughts... "?" is for things that i don't know if i should replace, and the "U" is for things that i think i could find USED...

Seriously now, does this look like a good starting point...???

You forgot a fucking carb, fucking timing chain set, and a BIG ol' fucking hammer to put it together! http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Looks like you covered your bases fairly well, though...pick up ANY hot rod magazine and you'll find a small block Chevy build-up with a parts list to compare your to!

Fuck yeah!! http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

summit racing has about the best deal on a rebuild kit for a SBC free shipping too

you wont know if you need valve guides until you get it apart and then you place the bare valve into the valve guide, just the end, and then wiggle the valve head and it it moves at all you probably need valve guides.

THe machinist at my local Napa, where they do engine machining, is a helluva nice guy, and if you talk to them(buddy up with them), usually they will tell ya straight up what you need and dont. lots of advice as well.

Try Northern Auto Parts (http://www.northernautoparts.com/Index.cfm) they have a very nice rebuild kit for 350s for $154.99. It includes pistions, rings, bearings, gaskets, cam and lifters, timing chain, freeze plugs and oil pump....for a few extra bucks you can pick a performance cam. All of the parts are good quality too, Federal Mogul, Sealed Power, Cloyes, Melling...I have built a few motors with their kits and have pounded em pretty hard with no problems.

I already have a brand new holley with the jet and acc. pump assortment tuning kits... So that's covered...

I'll check out those places and prices...

Also, any of you local guys have an extra 4bbl manifold that'll take a holley...?? All it has to do is be street-able and fit under the hood... it doesn't have to be new or pretty... Actually, i'd prefer that it wasn't... Shitty stuff is cheaper, and cheaper is better...

And trust me, "Germ" should be taking lessons from ME... HAHAHA...
