you guys convinced me to change cams(I want to keep the gears) I was looking at a 260H which seems to be a low end cam.I'm running 3 dueces with stock heads,Does this seem like a good choice & what is the specs for the stock 1976 305 cam( not H/O)had a 2bbl on it.

Edelbrock Performer cam kit, TRW #274 350-400 replacement cam, any one of several mild Crane hydraulics....ALL will work out better in a 305 than the 260H will. Trust me here...305 engines are something of a personal favorite of mine!

Hack got it...... I would STILL change to a little more gear....even like a 3:08 would help A LOT !!! Looser converter would do a lot too ............light cars need a loose converter anyway to improve driveability.....

Amen on the converter! Even something as moderate as the TCI "Saturday Night Special" or the similar one from B&M makes a BIG difference!

If you can find one, stock 70s Vette converters were said to have a SLIGHTLY higher stall speed, but for the money, the TCI or B&M unit would be a better buy.
