Crazy enough? Did this a while back when Jerry was doing Comet articles in Custom Rodder.
hmmm, so kustomizer, how would we suspend that rear axle? Doesn't look like enough room for a normal driveshaft with u joints.

hey what do you mean suspend my rear axle? The pic of my car or the photoshop car you did. My comet is now lowered 4 inches all around. it doesnt look like a 4x4 anymore. Thanks Nate

Fat Hack, THAT is an AWSOME idea!

Seriously! I have never thought too much about getting a four door, cause....well, they are four doors. BUT a street bruiser with all four doors welded shut and filled in like that would be too friggen cool.
No paint, no interior, Just two race buckets and a whole lotta mean under the hood!
Oh and by the way. I LIKE the stance of that car in the first picture. If a car is gonna be mean, Its gotta have a "HEADS UP" stance. Up in the air rocks.

why not take the front wheel openings and weld a pair in place of the rear ones so they match[plus rear tires fit better!]

Regarding the concept drawing,
If you have a rear engine setup, with almost no space for a driveshaft between the trans and rear end, where do the u joints go?

kustumizer

is there anyway you could mount the yokes together with one u joint? nate

for the rear engine set up use a toranodo or the like front whell drive set up and put it inthe back;)

Tim,
That sounds like a real world solution, hadn't thought of that. I had only imagined some kind of Jag or vette rear end coupled closely to the trans. Is it a big deal to make the Tornado trans or axles run reverse?

Nope, them wheels need to be forward 4 more inches. And there needs to be straight stacks coming up out of the engine bay.

Can someone do that to the no-door version? I like that idea too. Though I doubt it would pass inspection for licensing.

Bring it to Michigan...no steenking inspections HERE!!! http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I think the "doorless" car has a neat, sorta flopper quality to it...the long window openings and lack of door lines give it a cartoonish look that would be kinda fun, I'd imagine!!

I did this photochop awhile back for some other guy. It was just to show that a simple clean-up and lowering would look good. Of course, yours is a four-door, so you should probably just smash it up and burn it for the insurance money. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

No i think my car is looking pretty sweet all lowered the handles are shaved so you cant really tell. I dont know why people dont like four doors. Its more room and nobody else really wants them and they are cheap!! You can make them look just as kool as a 2 door i think. Nate

i agree with kustomizer, granted there are some cars that should of never been made as 4 doors, and some even suck as 2 doors! but there are plenty of cool looking 4 door cars.

I like basically any 59-63 make 4 door. they are so long anyways, a 4 door makes them look longer, stretching their beautiful body lines longer.

But if i got a 4 door, id be proud of it and not try to hide it by shaving the handles, youre not fooling anyone, youre only making a statement that you wish it wasnt a 4 door!

course, they look the best draggin on the frame. just my thoughts http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif

man,i don't have photochop, but now i wish i did.you guy's are goin the wrong way with this lump.that thing should be straight up gasser style, straight axle and all.why not just fill in the center of the doors[where the two doors meet]and make it a big 2 door?you'd need a hell of a hinge though. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smirk.gif
