My brother got a copy last month on ebay for $46. It was a 1950 printing in good condition. He watched for a month or two before he found an "affordable" one.

If you just want it to ID what year model car a part is from, the prefix is all you need to know.
The four number part number is universal thru all years, for intance, 9510 is a complete carburetor, and 6015 is engine block.
My engine in my A is a 1HA 6015 A the HA is a '47-51 series flathead inline six, the 1 means this one is a 1951, the 6015 is the number for an engine block.
Any post letter or number is for sub variations, like A-8200-A is a commercial Model A (painted) radiator shell, A-8200-C is a Chrome, (or nickle) plated Model A radiator shell.
A 1932 radiator shell will still be numbered 8200 with a B prefix.
If there's a right (odd) and left (even) the last number of the four will be odd or even, (or sometimes they will have a different sub letter)
So, for the most part, all ya need to know for swap meets is the prefixes to know the year of part, if you recognize what the part is of course...

(A-1059-A is a 28-29 coupe and roadster trunk lid, A-1059-B is a 30-31.)

Yes .......in 1975. I had a all steel Deuce Roadster back then too..........

I had a black Hiboy with flames back then........

Nice Deuce shells and inserts were $200.
25 vent hoods were $100.

I passed on a 32 Ford 3W coupe with 20 something thousand miles, NICE original paint, non-molested barn find for 5 grand. It was just too high $$$. 5 grand would buy a new pickup....loaded or about anything you wanted with wheels.

I'm starting to gather parts for an 29 AV8 and I have a tight budget, so I want to get the right shit the first time. I'll keep my eyes for a cheapy, thanks for the help everyone.

I have the CW Moss in Orange and the Vintage Ford Parts in Stanton Model A catalogs and they have most of the pictures, plus which one's they sell!
They have different catalogs for roughly each series and the one's I hae were $3 each, (actually, I think I bagged them free when I bought stuff from them) That's a cheaper way to get a look at a lot of the pictures.

By about the time you've bought your third or fourth old Ford, it's worth it to have your own copy of the book.

Don't loan it out. I've already lost two of them that way!
