I did the roof of my 60 after reading Lownslow's article. His site is awesome. The article was great. I learned alot from doing it. I dont know if the picture will really show up or not.

Yeah, I did mine over a white base. I think the key is to get lots of coats of the silver flake over the white. I think mine needs more coats of the flake. I used the real big ones from House of Kolor. It really sparkles outside.

use a 2.0 tip for the big bass boat size flake too? Curious as to whether I'll need to buy a tip for one of the guns at school.

yip...... 2.0 for the bass boat stuff......atleast i should say thats what i have had the best results with......any smaller that stuff will clog up the gun......much bigger and its like turning on a garden hose ..TOO much material........

Do you still need to follow the usual painting techniques, like a 50 percent overlap or do you need to back up a little and do a wider fog pattern? Also when you mix this in the clear, about how much per ready to spray cup is best to add, and for the silver flake would it be better to apply on a white , or silver base to get the best effect?

rat,
yeah basically do regular style but open up the fan quit a bit and back off a little .you will see where you have to even it up just build it slowly dont try to get it covered in 1 or 2 passes it will maybe take 3 or 4 maybe more .....also i do about 4 ounces or so per mixed quart...and in my opinion i would put it over a coarse metallic silver base...but red punk put his over white and digs the effect so i guess its whatever you are after.....now if you want it over white i would use a pearl white for extra POP ......also if you use a top feed gun i back flush the gun after every pass ...that is put your thumb over the nozel and pull the trigger quickly to stir up the flake as it wants to settle...if you use a suction fed gun use some large ball bearing in the cup and stir it around often.......good luck and HAVE FUN.....
