Need tranny help ASAP [Archive]

I got the car running today, but the trans will not shift into any gear except park. It is a C-4 tranny, the fluid level is good. If I put the tranny in any gear and press on the gas all it does is sit there. I was thinking that the valve body is clogged or the pump is bad. Also the tranny is as pulled from a running car. Any help would be appreciated as I wolud like to take this car to the Showdown and that is Sat.

Is it a fresh trans?If it has been sitting a long time the filter might be clogged restricting fluid to the pump.You might want to start by changing it first?

Hate to be like this, but - did you bolt the torque convertor to the flywheel??
I've done stuff like that when I'm in a hurry....

No it is not a fresh trans it has been sitting for about three years. It is bolted together right I did check that.

I really think it is seated all the way. I am going back out to the garage right now, I will check that. Thanks
