Come on now - ALL Ramblers are beautiful I had a 65 220 2dr with black primer front fenders on a white car in 1980 before primer was cool http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I never could get a chick to ride in it (my own mother refused to be seen it)

PS - Rocky what was your best time in that beauty??

No, wait.........I think I've made a mistake or 2. Uhhhhhhh, the 10.67 was refactored to a 24.something. And now that I remember back a little, I guess Tuck did eventually beat me with his 65....In fact, he beat me every pass at the 1/4 mile but once I kicked his ass in the 1/8th.

Obviously can't handle the power of an AMC V8. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

BTW, that snorkel sure as shit ain't no "AMC thing". Looks more like a Mopar or Ford offering.

Quite scary how many Rambler owners there are popping up around here.

You don't say anything for a year, probably lurking around like a sewer rat, chasing all them inbred chicks in that hick town you live, THEN, you have the nerve to come on here and call the World's fastest/coolest/ginchiest Rambler A VALIANT!?!?!?

Hi. Nice to see you back. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Lostparts - youre keeping the fold down seat you Must keep the motor AMC-how about a 304-360-390-401 all the same block, will shoe horn in there right nicely, I saw some down at spring rod run in your body style, hell it was even a factory option. If you have any questions let me know my boy is a AMC-Jeep guru and can tell you what you need to build a motor to make it run like a gasser not just look like one.

EL rusto, do you have anymore pics?

hey dixiedog, thanks for the imformation offer. but i'm a small block chevy fan, with shelves for carbs, intakes, and headers, for those type motors. at this point in my life i'm kind of sticking with what i know.

You're right about leaving the AMC V8 in.
Yea MOPAR did a snorkel lookin thing in the late '60s or early '70s.
But it seems to me that AMC did a Red White and Blue bodied thing with the same snorkel lookin thing about the same time.
I'm probably wrong, anyway I never liked 'em when they were cool.
Its kinda like going to the Nostalgia Races and seeing an old Willies with a prostock bump back by the windshield. I know ya gotta get air in but it just aint right.

BTW LostParts build it the way ya like it. The name of the game is run what ya brung. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

The snorkel hood thingy came on a special edition called the "Rebel Machine" around 70 or so. I think they also had the same type of scoop on the SC/Rambler in the late 60's. Both were white with red and blue stripes. The SC/Rambler actually had a red, white and blue interior.
Ramblers were cool - I had a 65 Classic for a first car, plus a 68 Rebel rag top, and a 81 Concorde. All were cheap, and incredibly reliable cars. The 65 was cool in that the whole interior folded down into a bed!! This was a throwback to the old Nash days.

Speaking of Ramblers, a co-worker of mine just sent me a link to an auction on ebay for a local theatre group charity. Apparently someone donated a 63 rambler to them and now it's on ebay.

Not mine and I don't know more about it, but thought this was the best post to pass the info along.

Mr57,
I think the closest thing I ever owned to a rambler was a Gremlin. It was a hoot, had the worlds fastest reverse.
They were without a doubt cool cars in their own right.
I did won an old I/H with a 304, I think AMC used the same basic engine for awhile. Talk about stump pulling power. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
OT pistnbroke,
I'm not sure if you caught my last post, so I sent you a private message. We're talkin' about the same danny.

man the Gremlin X's were a bunch of fun. It's cool when something that ugly is that fast. 401's fit real nice and surprise the hell out of anyone. I'd like to find another rambler and fix it up as a drag car. Big AMC motor and a four speed. How pissed off would the AMX guys be if I pulled the 390/4 spd package out to put in a rambler... ha ha

Brootal
12-07-2003, 06:52 PM
Leebo - The Rumbler's not going anywhere fast at the moment. I just chucked my job in, so it will have to sit a bit longer. I've redone the motor, just needs to be put back together. It needs paint too, but that will have to wait.

I thought it might have been a Rebel Machine scoop, but I thought it was too big. The SC/Rambler had a much narrower Pro Stock style scoop that turned upwards. Weird looking things, that's for sure!

Put whatever you want in it. It's a drag car after all, so you just run with whatever the hell it is you can make go fast. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

coming from a fellow American owner,

that car is DISGUSTING....

I assume that you know the owner/builder personally and that this remark was made with a smile(?). If not, then that "Ass gasket" must have a pretty big hole in it.
NOTE: I am smiling as I type

Too new to be a proper traditional gasser. Those cars made their (small) mark in Super Stock (SC/Rambler model)
A gasser, IMO, would ruin that car.
