OK kiddies, time to pull the canvas off the car for this year. Eight meets listed, but two date duplications will mean only six are attendable. A ninth (seventh) one is available March 5th & 6th outside of Phoenix but I doubt I can make that one, we shall see. :(
Once again it doesn't look like I'll be able to afford to make any of the Tulsa meets either.

Only a couple things to do, mainly something about the busted pressure plate retainer clip on the new Spec clutch. Likely have to cobble up something of my own, the "factory" clips don't seem to be up to it. Possibly change out the tach for an old full sweep model I found on e-bay.

May wind up with enough time to paint'er the color I wanted originally, we'll see about that too.

One good thing, the Toad blew an oil pump drive gear and as long as I had the engine out I decided to finish up all the towing upgrades I had on the shelf for just such an occasion. I should be able to do my towing this year with El Toad (my '62 Valiant wagon) if it runs the way I figure.

I've been finding less time than I could wish to work on the car, but some. Will be putting on an SFI bell (brand new item from Quicktime) and reworking the clutch linkage a bit more.

Also, I've begun fiddling with a drop-on body to suit an imaginary HA/GMR (HAmb/Gas Modified Roadster) class. It may be finished later this year, I'll add some pictures whenever it's done.

Other than that, just getting'er ready for the ANRA season opener in a couple weeks.

I'm thinking that there may be more than one HA/GMR out there.:D

After much work the last couple days, the car's back together and ready to light'em up (story & pictures next week). Off to Bakersfield in the morning.
I've charged the camera's batteries, so will have no excuse to fail to bring home pictures.

Boy, I wish the Bangshift website would video stream the ANRA race like they do the March Meet.

Best of luck to you Dick. Looking forward to the pics. Run strong and bring it home in one piece.

OK gentlemen,

I've finally added the firewall, radiator, clutch, and bellhousing updates to the picture album. I'll get some pictures from the ANRA opener here this week as well.

Old6rodder, I really like your creativity.
I'm doing a car for my granddaughter to start racing with, and mid mid engined /6 is where I think I'll start her (like the car in my avatar).
I'm really stuggling with how long the dang thing has to be do to using any kind of transmission, and the fact that the original Speed Sport car used a quick change, putting the gear mass behind the rear axle, allowing for a shorter wheelbase.
But, such is life. I'm working on way to "hide" the extra length by extensive body mods adding an inch here, and inch there. It's a lot of work.
Anyway, just wanted to say how much i enjoy watching the progression of your hot rod!

Thank you.

Speed Sport style cars are great looking, I'm doing something in that vein as a drop-on for ours, but with an earlier style body.

Yes, the LOA's a problem on an inliner with a normal gearbox. We started out with a 138" wheelbase 'til we could get the gearbox shorter. Still only made it down to 124".

I guess I could lop another 4"-6" off the front by shortening the quarter eliptics, but I like'er the way she is. :D

If you're going with a slush pump (for brackets), I don't see why a 904 couldn't be shortened the same way we did the manual.

Funny you should mention that, I am in fact designing a short t/s for the 904, and hope to market a few of them too!

When you get to the point you show some pictures, please do so. Any info and cost would be nice.

That earlier body style: years ago Lindberg made a mid engined T drag car model kit, I always liked it, and saw a re-release recently in Hobby Lobby. I think the kit was called Black Widow, but could be mistaken. The "Big T" lit may have had a "Black Widow" version as well.
Crkinsp, who's stuff do you want to see pix of?
