Hello all!!
First of, I have to say I had a hell of a time signing up for this place. Apparently my verizon Email is on your guys block list or something, cuz I would mever get that Email with my password. So, I decided to pop in the wifes yahoo.. and BAM!! 3 seconds later Im good to go.
Anyways, my name is Bryant, im 31 years old and I'm living in Lompoc California... land of a million earthquakes and even the SHITTIEST house imaginable goes for $ 250,000. I have been raised around classic cars for the most important part of my life (the impressionable part!). My mother has an affection for Pontiacs so I remember doing a lot of sanding 9i was like 4..) on a Pontiac Safari. My stepdad (who has been long gone about 15 years or so) was into the chevys.. We had a '55 4 door, a '56 Nomad with a 327 and a 4 speed (I have no idea why I remember that) and an Impala SS he got from his mother when she passed away (64 I believe). Then as I got into my teenage years I got bitten by the 'mini truck' bug (Im sure I'll get flamed for that!). My only shining point was when I was 22 I owned a 64 Chevelle.. wish I still had that car! But as I've gotten older I realized I want to get back to the older iron. Im tired of dinky ass 4 cylinders motors that are smog laden with requirements and equipment. I conveyed this 'revelation' to my mother and she offered up her current car as a wedding gift (I jsut got married in september) a 1955 Pontiac Starchief with around 80k original miles! It was originally a Texas car that we had purchased from the original owner about 18 years ago. It has the dealer installed option of the air conditioning unit in the truck with the plexiglass "popcorn poppers" funneling out of the rear deck to direct the air.
I have yet to take this car off of her hands, I have no room for it (stoopid minitruck project rotting away in my garage that I cant seem to sell) but as soon as I make room.. I would love to lower it and cruise the hell out of it!! A part of me tells me I would go to hell in a heartbeat if I cut up a perfectly orignal car.. So, to curb my 'itch' Im thinking of building a 'rat rod' type project. I went to Paso Robles last year for the annual show and just fell in love with the simplistic nature of some of those cars!
Gawd, I've rambled on long enough!
