Ok so Im thinking about buying this 49 ford and I was wondering if anyone had ever worked on one of these before and what they did to it to give me some ideas what I could do to it (it has a flathead 6 but I have a 8 that will fit in the mounts in case I want something bigger) So yea any suggestions anyone has(as well as pics) would be awsome thanks!

Watch "Return To Macon County"...there was some local toughs driving a black 49 or 50 Ford four door...Don Johnson had to use his "Special" super-secret injection system to beat 'em....musta had a helluva flattie in it!!

Slam it and shave it, paint it wild, and drive off into the sunset...

Paint it up like a 50's police car, black and white.

Is it difficult to lower it or not I have never done it before also, what about puttin a three carb set up on the flat 8 any good?

If I had that car this is what I would do: Keep the six in it.Split the exhaust manifold, one straight pipe, one glasspack. lower it, 4in blocks in the rear, fatman spindles and 1-1/2 coils removed in front. Shave the letters from the hood and make a bullnose strip from a 49-50 Chevy fender spear. Shave the door handles. Put flared bottom skirts on it. Wide whites with 54 Olds wheelcovers (not spinners). Blue dots. Paint it semi-gloss black. Do the upholstery & headliner in white and paint the dash & garnish mouldings Ford Embergolw (orange/copper metalic) The end.
Thats my take on it, your results may vary.

Not hard to lower at all. Here's a link to a company that specializes in components for lowering shoe boxes.

If you don't want to get too crazy you can go w/ a four drop in the rear and a three up front. Provides a really nice look. Go w/ new springs if you can afford. Your ass will be thankful.
Other than lowering the thing, it kind of depends on what type of shape the paint is in and what you personally want to do with it.
If the paint is good I'd put wide whites on painted steelies w/ some cool hubcaps. Throw some nice, simple scallops on and call it done.
If the paint is not good shave your handles, put it in black primer w/ black painted steelies, baby moons, and wide whites. Flame that sucker like below and you're an instant bad ass, four doors or not http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
Good luck.

These are awsome ideas I was curious though is aposltrey(sorry if I spelled it wrong) work hard to do or relativly easy? Also I was thinking of making like bubble skrits if anyone knows what Im trying to explain. Like not just a flat skirt something that looks a lil more curvy, hard to do not hard?
