First off... Happy Cinco-De-Mayo everyone:)

we'll... this is an 8 X 10 painting i did for artist Hamber "Kustom Keifer". It was done with acrylics on canvas! It's Urko from the Planet of the Apes. It was a request piece for keith for some dough and a trade for his work (two of his Tiki/Gal prints - which he does excellent work by the way). Hope he likes it and he's seeing it for the first time here. Now.. to go package it up and send it his way back East!
best wishes,
CAB

From now thru Oct in Ft. Wayne, there are Mastodons on Parade. Much like other cities have done with cows, pigs and stuff. I thought you guys and gals would enjoy seeing this one that was done by a local body shop. I think it is really cool!!!! So I went and took a few shots of it tonight. :p

Here's some of my b&w stuff. Unfortunately I don't have a scanner,
so these are actually pictures of pictures.

If they look a little skewed, that's why.

Most of these were shot in my uncle's pasture.

Two 4dr 57 chevy parts cars:

My buddy Darren's '60 Bel Air
http://img246.echo.cx/img246/8397/darrens60sideweb1ji.jpg (http://www.imageshack.us)

Some shots of my uncle's '49 Mercury Meteor.
I've wanted this car for a long time. Last Christmas
I framed up one of these shots and gave
it to him. He still wont let me have the car...

Spent some time in the garage sling ink of another kind. Here is th first color of a 2 color poster. Kinda a sneak peak.

http://www.thedefianceproject.com/art/breath3.jpg

If you want to see the press in action. I have it running in this 3meg MOV file. I just inked it and am running it without the plate to distribute the ink.
http://www.thedefianceproject.com/letterpress/letterpress1.MOV

Lastly - My daughters baby announcement. This is just the beginning of the process. Its going to take 4 times through the press to get all of the color on it and once more to score the middle of the printed page so it can be mailed.

Shit, that thing is cool. I really like what you're doing there.
One time I was out shooting small town chinese-food signs
and I happened into a conversation with a guy that was running
a couple of old Heidelbergs. He let me in to have a look and I
got some pretty cool shots of them too. Anyhow, I'd sure like
to see the finished product. Looks great so far!

Thank you. I've got more, though not all of them are
automotive-related. I tend to shoot lots of old farm
equipment. I haven't really showed these to anybody
outside of my family, so this might be a good forum.

Ditto on the fridge. Excellent.

Cab's POTA stuff is always cool to see. I like the scene in one of the movies, don't remember which, where the councilmen do the hear/speak/see no evil bit. That would make a cool painting methinks. My dad has a collection of little h/s/s no evil monkey statues. They're kinda creepy in a good way.

On the topic of that elephant and the whole phenomena, Midland, Mich. gets trolls. What the hell is with that trend? Donzie, maybe you should get a HAMB tridge troll going next time they do that. (I grew up in Auburn.)

Great Stuff Here!

Went into my storage last night and picked up a ton of my old paper and art supplies. You guys h ave me itching to get back at it. I will tell you one thing though - it's not like riding a bike, you definitly lose a little bit of what you used to have if you don't do it for 5 years.

Love the fridge.

Naw, just kidding. I always feel bad for putting down Detroit. And homeless people. Two entities that I'd like to see more successful. I'm a huge fan of both. Well sorta.

I would love Detroit if they just had a real public transportation system. I despise driving around that city. That and Woodward Avenue almost killed my car, although I guess that was actually Royal Oak.

Any body jump out of planes? There is a group of parachuters all over the world called the Rodreguez Bros. They are having some party here down the road and one of the members brought this for me to paint. It is a shot machime. You put the bottles on top and when you press the button it gives you a shot at 11 to 15 degrees.

Auto art only post,,,,Maybe I'm wrong,,,, But I made an auto art only post to make the art show more focused. I've noticed that the art show pages get SWAMPED with Strippin' & car art. I thought focusing on one subject matter would make the images flow together more smoothly & maintain the same mindset. Well i don't know...It's worked in the past????? Maybe we should do strippin show & Car art shows????

Orrrrr...maybe we can just start breaking things down into a bunch of sub-categories..."Hood and Trunk Auto Art Only", "Dash Auto Art Only", "Things made from Car Parts Auto Art Only", etc. See what I'm saying? Ya'll do what you want...seems like the board will get cluttered up with too many little sub categories that could just be contained under one "roof". My 2¢

I'll post it here its all art and most of it here is auto art so why do it twice. I'm too lazy for two art posts. It takes enough effort just to get my pics in the computer then on photobucket. You ask too much of us.

I'm with Dan, Leave it be. It's all related and it's refreshing to see some other "Lowbrow" art in with the car stuff. I think this IS the "mindset". One day a week, one thread. I LOVE it! This board is blessed with tremendous talent and variety, but with the collective "soul" of Kustom Kulture and Lowbrow art. I'm a big HAMB F.A.S. fan!

It's simple. I've changed NOTHING. We've had car-art only posts in the past. They were very well organized & enjoyed. ALL Of A SUDDEN this isn't acceptable?????

Fine.

(I think we should have a sub-category for people who complain about sub-categories that contain sub-categories of main categories such as automotive art, is strippin & auto-art the same or different. Must be the same. That's what I learned. jus my 2 cents)

Man that car art post really filled this art show post with too much misc bullshit! Keep it all together! Makes it easier to view. And if any of the reasoning behind it was directed at me or my rogue letterpress take a peak at me and get ready to kiss my pimpled ass. Cause you cant get more traditional than a 100 year old letterpress to print you traditional hot rod stuff. I have just begun to spread my reign of domination. :) But if I wasn't part of your modivation factor then just disregard my ranting. I have been working in tight spaces with multiple somvents for the majority of the weekend! ENJOY the final print. 3" still needs to be trimmed off of the top to make the final size 11" x 14" just got done printing about 75 of these beauties.

I'm not sure, since I wasn't driving at the moment. We didn't take the 59/77 from Houston to Corpus. I THINK we took the 185 from Victoria down south. I DO know that an hour or so after we passed this junkyard, we drove through a tiny town called Tivoli. Not completely sure about the roads though, I'll check with my buddies and see if they remember where the photo was shot. Here's another picture from the same junkyard.

Danny

I was anticipated people would BEITCH about my post. WTF....WHAT the FUCK......

Kaspar...that's where we live....just out of curiosity, do you remember the photo locale?

Talked to the guy who drove the car and he thinks it was along road 59 somewhere between Wharton and Edna. Not 100% sure though.
