How about keeping it 4 door, with a lift off top like the Ohnesian Merc? A Carson-style top would probably be a lot easier than a handformed metal lift off top, like the one Bertolucci made on this one, though... http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif
Otherwise, Brewsirs Merc is among the coolest HAMB-cars of all time.
those pix so far are exactly what i was thinking

ooh and in all seriousness if im able to pull off this car its going to have to be swaped onto a differnt driving chassi. the wheel base is the same as those 48-53 chevy trucks so im thinking s-10 and im not afraid of reliablity issues with those.
any other good swaps? i freakin hate 80s chevy impala/capreices so thats not an option no matter how fun it is to kut them up;)

I would post some..but they were lost when we changed computers. I can tell ya how to do it if you get serious ...and are really crazy, cuz it's tons of work....but very well worth it. How about something like mine with the coupe doors, hardtop it and lay the trunk in similar to what I did. Probably do a 3 in. chop and when you realign the posts on the windshield just slide the roof and rear parts forward...kinda fastback like!
very cool idea,
any one have pix of how to slice that back panel to chop it?
that was my first thought but that back curve looks intimidating.
any info on how you did the doors?
thanx
