I like the name hotrod for a boy. Hotrod McVannel, I like it alot http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
If he grows up and doesn't have an interest in cars or "needs" a name that's more "traditional" or "formal" (like if he ends up being a doctor or lawyer), he could then call himself
H. Rod McVannel
AHotRod

I had already suggested to you "Deuce". That one could go either way (boy or girl). Easy to say, easy to spell and they'd be the only one in class with that name.

Absolutely no stripper names for my little girl!! My dorkie brother is named Nick so that's out. I'm diggin' Modela, Duece, Victoria, Enzo (sorry guys, Ferraris are total goldchain cars but cool nonetheless). Seriously though, we are thinking Elliot Henry or Francis Annette. Nicknames will definantly follow. Thanks for all the ideas. BTW, howzzabout Bouncer Sue for a boy?

We named our kid Dylan James...
And now she wants another one next year http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shocked.gif And if it's a girl... I like girls names that can be shorted to a boy's name... like this...
Samantha - Sam
Danielle - Dani
Also knew a girl named Joni...
So far if we have a girl it's gonna be Danielle (Dani) Jade which would be perfect with Dylan James.
No fuckin' clue what we'd name him if it's a boy but the wife is suggesting Benjamin and I'm like... http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif.

That's "Francis Marion Morrison" Denise. He was named for the Swamp Fox. No wonder he went with Duke! Bet he was tough in school. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif
Give her/him a name that won't be an embarassment when they are an adult.
I knew a kid in school who's actual given name was "Sonny" not too cool unless you're a hippy singer. He hated it by the time he got his permanent teeth.

Hey Flattie,
My brother has a major infatuation with Pontiac musclecars (think GTO). Especially those of the 1970 vintage. In honor of that he named his first daughter Sevindee, and his son Holden (in honor of the 2004 - made in Aussie - GTO).
I had every intentention of naming my kid Deuce, But my wife wasn't willing to be so over the top. We settled on Drea (pron- DRAYA).
If you have any inspiration from old rock or blues stars I think that would be just as cool as a hot-rod related name. Which reminds me - how about Roth? I'd name my next Moriarity if it wasn't so damn hard to say....
Of course take this all with a grain of salt concidering the fact that my real name is Damion.....

i think in a world today where one name can be spelled nine different ways and still be pronounced very closely, you should just stick with a simple name, standard spelling,
it will really help once the kid gets to high school and college.

I always wanted to be a dick and name my kid XPJ5Q and say it's pronounced "Dave" or something like that. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif But I had a girl, and I've said since I was about 8 that if I ever had a girl it would be REGAN TERESA, after Linda Blair's character in the Excorcist. Believe it or not, the baby momma went with it! http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif I tried to get the spelling changed to RAYGUN (in honor of 50's scifi movies), but mom said no!

Don't saddle your kid with something stupid cuz it sounds "cool" and amusing now...you'll be sorry and he will think you are a moron when he's old enough to understand.
Don't name him after movie stars or soap opera players.
Name him after someone you respect or somepne you wish to honor. Don't name him after you, let him be his own person.
I was named after my Grandfather who died two months before I was born. I named my daughter after my Grandmother who died when I was very young, my son was named after my (ex)wife's late grandfather. My youngest carries my maternal Grandmother's (also deceased) name.....and on it goes.
