View Full Version : Friday Art Show 4-28

This is Thursday, right? No one has started a Friday Art Show yet?
OK, I will.
I have two Desk Top Art Works to show off this week. The first one is an ordered car. It is #40, a Dodge sedan with a Hemi motor. This all steel hand formed Art work features a lift off hood and a 3 carbed Hemi. It measures 10" long, 4" wide and 3 1/2" high. It will be on it's way to CA shortly to the hands of its new owner, Rustyredram.
The second Desk Top Art Work is # 41, a hi boy duece roadster with a multi carbed flat head. This one is the first car for of the last 4 or 5 that was not an ordered car and is not spoken for. Look for it soon in the classifieds. It measures 8 3/4" long, 4" wide and is 4" high. It comes with a detailed frame featuring a front drop axle on a buggy spring with hair pins. The rear axle is also on a buggy spring with hair pins. The 4 carbs are mounted cross wise on the flat head with a Lakes style headers. This one was fun to build. If you can't afford to build the real thing, (which I can't) this is getting pretty close. Gene

And my first car pinstriped in the USA (I'm french), an Hamber car, carartNICK's Chevy, in Green Bay, during the 50's fest at the Oneida casino.
I realized afterwards that the design is a little bit "Nativeamericanish", certainly due to the strange wind this day (not easy to stripe with such a wind)...and we was on the Oneida Indian Nation...Scarry ! ;)

had a day off for a change. So I cleaned the shop and striped the coffee table in the living room. Its a little diff. than most my stuff. I never use Blue and three colors. Its big... five feet long. The lighter blue fades from a blue jean blue at the top to a sky blue at the bottom.

The back of my neck just got a tattoo from Jeff Shea. It's the DEADBEATS' club skull, with crossed bone and broken wrench, done in pinstriping. I figured Jeff is a excellent tattooartist AND one of the best stripers I knnow, so he should do a striping tattoo on me. Here's the tattoo...

At Green Bay this Hamber "Krupanut" was hangin out with. He claimed he was in a very popular rock 'n roll band.....But I never believed him. Anyways, He's a super kool dude, besides his claims of bein a 'rockstar'....The art is for max gearheads 34. And the Krupa shots show him @ a 1920's burger joint & my car @ the Green Bay car show.

Thanks for the kudos on the image...
I was about 3 feet from the car when he struck the hides. That is the advantage (sometimes) of a non-NHRA track. They will allow you to put yourself in places that the guys shot from in the 50's and 60's. You just sign your life away before doing so...
You have trust in the driver and the driver has the same in you...

Well, since it was dueceC-Dan who said this Friday Art Show wasn't long enough, it's only fitting that his work should make it a bit longer. Here's the step-by-step some of you guys were wanting to see last week [my apologies to Josh for taking so damn long to post it]:
1. sketch. done in colored pencil cause i couldnt find a pencil.
2. Black and white done with a normal, new, sharpie marker.
3. add chrome. using light blue, brick biege, a bit of grey and a
touch of
violet.
4. I start with the final color of the car(red) and lay down the hard
reflection lines, horizions.
5. then go to the other extreme, and ad yellow.
6. then fade yellow darke using sun yellows and oranges.
7. then push the red darker with maroons and purples.
8. the tires are next. I like to do em in purples or blues instead of
the
normal greys.
9. push the dark areas with a 40% to 60% grey marker over your colors.
Look
in front of the grille and under the header and on the gas tank against
the
cab.
10 I always like to outhine the ground shadow with a color that accents
the
color of the car.
